Schoolboy Error!

I finally got round to fitting the Jesse panniers I got of Mr Boxer about two years ago.
Bit of a guessing game with all the bolts etc but got there in the end. Took all the bolts out again one by one and put a dab of blue locktite on as per the instructions. Job done I thought. Then I went to fit the super comfy Corbin seat……. Nope!

Blooming seat was too wide and couldn’t open the pannier lids or even get the key into the release mechanism! Arse.
Then I read the extra bits of paper in the kit which clearly states that if you’re using an aftermarket seat you need to fit the extension kit supplied!

An hour later and all is well. Hey ho.

Jaysus, are you selling ice-creams off the back of your bike? What can you possibly need all that storage space for?

I recall that my first big trip on the GSA was to Morocco. I fitted the panniers and top box & also had a tank bag. The bike weighed, IIRC, over 400 kgs so, when I eventually dropped it going off-road, it needed three of us to pick it up. My next big trip around Europe was a soft roll bag along the rear seat and top box support, and a tank bag for the valuables, so I could take it with me. Much easier riding. Both trips were for 2/3 weeks. My motto now is 'pack carefully; travel lightly'.
