I have a Schubert C2 flip up helmet and it keeps foging up whenever I am in slow traffic & espically when it is raining. This means that I then have to open the visor to let in the air resulting in the rain running down inside visor and I still have trouble seeing out

I have heard that there is ment to be an anti fog coating on the inside but it never seemed to work on mine. So I tried bob heath and some other rub on stuff which only Lasted about 1.5 hours.

The only thing that might work is if I hold my breath every time I stop or deive slow  But I don't think that would realy be a good option in the City traffic

Does anyone have any ideas??????

There are many different forms of ventilation on the C2, after a bit of fiddling i've found having the chin vent open and the headliner at the winter setting IE reversed and the top vent open a little works most of the time, if I get all hot and bothered i pull the visor forward, you know, that just little click that allows airflow across the inside of the visor, that works as well:thumb

Screen settings on the bike also effect the ventilation settings, in fact with the gsa screen set around middle i can ride with the visor open, even if its raining, up to 45-50MPH

I have tried a pin city insert before and that works well, and schuberth also supply an electrically heated visor for the C2 if you're feeling flush

Good Luck

A Fog City works fine for me. I've never used a pinlock so I don't know how they compare.

The prob with clicking the helmet foward is the rain gets in the small gap, but it does work well when it's not raining.

The heated visor does sound like it would work :D but I think it might be a bit of overkill :mcgun and just a little out of my price range :(

I have to reluctantly admit that having lived with the C2 for 18m and 15K miles I think despite some real strengths it is not a great helmet.

I really struggle with misting. I have made it better by inserting a Fog city hyperoptics shield but it still mists up.

It is very sensitive to screen positioning and really needs agood solid bit of wind blast to stay clear. It is also very sensitive to what you are wearing on your head/neck. If you wear anything resembling a balacalva/face mask the misting is a lot worse.

My suspicion is that ventilation has been compromised in the interests of quietness and that if there is anything slightly less than strong and unimpeded air flow around the helmet misting occurs.

So in summary fit a fog city, keep the base of your helmet clear to enable air circulation and experiment with screen positions.

Failing that bin it and buy a helmet that works.

Thanks for your help guys. It looks like it is going to be a fog city insert so. Thought about Pinlock but I don't fancy drilling holes in my visor.

Bit of a luddite method works for me on my C1: A bit of washing up liquid on some dry kitchen roll, rubbed vigorously onto the visor and then any surplus dried off with more kitchen roll. Works a treat for a few days.

btw, gchamp, where did you get your C2 from?

cheers,

Barry

I was actually down in Andorra in the Pyrenees on the bike when I saw one there for a lot less than here (nearly €150 less) so I got it there & then had to bring home an extra helmet on an already fully loaded bike  but it was well worth it :thumb2

Fog City / Antimist coating

The Antimist coating can be removed quite easily with brake cleaner, it is necessary when fitting a Fog City to make it stick properly.

Fog City works excellently on my C2, I find the Visor vibrates when used on the town setting at anything over about 30mph!

Apart from that I find the C2 quite a good helmet especially the sun visor, definitely a step forward from a Caberb Justissimo!

Anti-mist Coating

Thanks for the tip Arkwright, I'll give it a go. The coating on my original visor has gone all 'misty and wobbly' on the bottom half and it really distorts the vision. I bought one of the German fellas' pre-pinlocked visors to replace it and at least if I can get the coating off I'll have a spare.
Does the FogCity foul the helmet at all when opening and closing?

Fog City

No it doesn't foul, unlike when fitted to the Caberg Justissimo!
