Schuberth C5 leaks

Just out of interest. If anyone has had a leak issue with a C5, what size was it?
And B4 I get a load of daft comments. There are 2 shell sizes. I’ve had issues with mine. When I tested a friend’s by putting a small amount of water down the front, his was fine, but the shell size was different.
This is a screenshot of a replacement helmet with some kitchen roll on the inside of the visor and a small amount of water put on top of the visor😭😭😭

Is the C5 similar to earlier visors where there is specific way to close the visor? See earlier posts on this thread.

My m/57 leaked because the visor wouldn't shut properly, sent it back and it came back with some silicone grease on the two catches. Apparently this should be included with the helmet, but mine didn't have any.
I must say though, my plain grey coloured C5 has a rubbish paint finish, it scratches really easily, every stone chip marks the paint finish. My previous BMW System 6 was way way better helmet.

Is the grease on the 2 catches at the side of the visor, near the edge of the pin-lock?

I did want the grey/cement colour - but glad i didn't after hearing this. The White has stood up well, seems to be a sturdy paint job.

I think there could be a problem with the finish of the Schuberth C5 and E2 in concrete grey.

Here's a couple of pictures of my E2 which I used for a month and these marks started to appear where the outer grey finish started to peel..........they're not stone chips and the helmet was returned and exchanged by Sportsbike Shop (great service by the way).

I'm now on my second E2 which I've had a couple of weeks and guess what.........yes I have another very small mark where the paint has started to peel.
I will see how it goes over the next few weeks and hopefully no more develop.

NB. They are definitely not caused by stone chips. I've had many helmets over the years and never seen this before.

I bought a C5 and the SC2 last year. The helmet was damaged in an accident. I bought another in June this year. It leaked the first time I used it. It was returned and replaced. I tested that one B4 using it. It leaked. I returned that. I was offered a refund, another make of helmet or a replacement but with no warranty. I took the refund and bought another from another retailer. That leaks. I’ve emailed Tranam the distributor and they apologise but say it’s a retailer issue. I’ve emailed Schuberth and are still waiting for a proper reply. So now I have £300 of comms that will only fit a helmet that seems plagued with problems. I do know how to shut a visor and this is not operator error.

Check the visor is fitted properly. It is a PITA mechanism to get it to sit right in the cogs, and if not correctly positioned the visor sits slightly askew. You'll be able to see it as the top seal will not be against the visor.

Mine is a Large and I did have a leak, however, I cleaned up the visor seals and found that Schuberth have modified the racket mechanisms on the side, as mine would not hold on the detents.

Not that you should have to, but I bought the updated ratchet mech from visorshop for £12 and it now ratchets properly and it seals fine

Here’s a pic of the visor ratchet, top pic is the original, note it has more lugs on it which seem to prevent it locking tightly, the newer version below. With only two lugs below.

I bought a fluorescent yellow/green C5 from motolegand and it leaks quite well. And the visor drops down at 40mph on its own. I have since placed a thin o ring between the visor ratchet bits that helps. Having now seen from post 32 visor shop have an up dated ratchet I will get one of them. As for the leak I will see what the ratchet does!

On the Visorshop website the ratchet mechanism they show, is this the one you replaced the original one with?

My C4 leaked like a sieve. Only bought one as soon as m may on here swore by Schuberth.
Turned out to be utter shite and I quickly got rid of it.
Is the C5 no better ?

Same for me, my BMW System helmet needed replacing and Helmet City had a deal on the C4 which made it a bargain against the Neotec2. The drop down sun visor mechanism failed within the first week and the wind noise was deafening. It got returned to Germany for inspection and repair but the noise issue wasn't fixed, plus my visor leaks in heavy rain.

My C4 is a hateful piece of junk that I wear for commuting, I have a Neotec 2 for touring which is in a different league.

Just received my ones from Visor shop and they are exactly the same as the original ones. Not as their website picture or the ones you show. I have emailed them back about this. Just need to see their reply. 🤔

Damn

Sorry about that mate, the ones in my picture are the ones I got from them, and they do make a difference.

Also, one other thing you could try on your originals

Lots of people have mentioned this also works, so hope it helps.
