I currently have a BMW System 6 which I am struggling with.
In the rain it leaks down the inside of the visor - even when it is closed, ( but it is like a waterfall if the visor is left open even a tiny bit) and my glasses always steam up within nanoseconds when I stop.
So I am thinking of getting an E1 - I like that style and thought the peak might offer some sort of extra protection.
Is this any better or should I just go for the Shoei Neotech?

I have a Schuberth C3 pro and a shoei neotec. Neither leak and both good helmets. My glasses seem to steam up just as bad in either. As I stop I always lift my visor or ride with the visor one click open.

Biggest difference between the two is how often you plan on changing visors. Changing visors on Schuberth is a split second job whereas on the shoei when you're putting a tinted visor on its very fiddly as you can't see the holes/clips.

I have a Neotech and it leaks - not when fully closed but when just cracked open. However, it needs to be cracked open when it's raining because the pinlock doesn't work very well. I pinlock is newish and I have cleaned it according to instructions.

Oh, and another thing, the chin airvent on the Neotech also lets in water if open when it's raining - then the raindrops get on my glasses :-(

The chin vent also lets the insects in :D Honestly the Neotech is a very good helmet. Mine doesn't leak and only the bottom of the visor mists where there is no pinlock in very cold. Happy with it. Vents are effective for high temp summer. The Hornet is better for staying cool in such temps but you suffer for it in winter. The Neotech has a chinguard and the visor mechanism needs lubricating with supplied lubricant every so often just for info.

In rain I can't lift the visor on my System 6 because water will then leak onto the inside of the visor - is the Neotech ok in this situation?

Shoei Neotec.

I don't ride with the visor fully closed, never have. Riding in heavy rain with the visor open to the first detent, I don't have problems with water running on the inside of the visor.

Maybe my problem is connected to the position of the screen on my bike - Tiger 800. I have recently changed to a Madstad screen and not yet ridden with it in heavy rain so maybe the helmet will be better now.

My system 6 doesn't leak, but I'm on an RT and the weather protection is about as good as it gets- I can ride with the visor open in driving rain with the screen up.

I've got a Schuberth and it leaks on the inside of the visor. It's not unique to one model of Schuberth either from what i've read on other forums. I'd not buy another from them especially considering what it cost

Haven't ridden in heavy rain for a while but from memory, no. Rode a bandit in and out do London every day for over two years and never had a leak. However as the bandit was naked with no wind protection I would get a couple of spits on my face from having he visor one click open. Pretty normal I think.

I have had a Neotech for approx 3 years - very good helmet, but I do get a little rain down the inside of the visor when the visor is closed. If the visor is open at all, the quantity of rain on the inside of the visor increases as you would expect. I have tried adjusting the visor closing mechanism, but to no avail.
Having said the above, I would probably buy another Neotech , which is miles better than the System 6 that I had a while back.

Not a rain issue but a noise issue. I notice the C3 pro has reasonable noise dampening except when the chin vent is open. It is bloody loud. Problem is to stop things misting up you need that vent open. Anyone compared the Neotec when the vent is open?

I had a Neotec, it leaked, I now have an E1 and it hasn't

I have the Neotec Borealis and it's perfect. It doesn't do any of what you described

Mines getting in for 3 years old and changing visors is a doddle

Neotecs are great helmets, mines coming in for five years now , I have just put a new pin lock on and visor, not had any issues at all , waterproof and quiet

This is, indeed, the case. The helmet is much better with the new screen leading me to think that it was the original Triumph screen that was affecting the airflow and causing the rain problems.

I have had an E1 since they first came out and am now very happy with it. I have ridden in biblical rainfall in Spain last year and no water came into the helmet - I did get a bit misting under the Pinlock at the very bottom - a pin adjustment seems to have stopped the problem now. The visor is good - it definitely helps with the sun and, other than at very high speed, does not really cause any issues atall but you need to find the sweet spot for you and the way you sit/windscreen etc. there are 3 positions to choose so it doesn't take long.

The E1 is a very comfortable helmet and very quiet - its not cheap but I think its worth the money - I bought mine before the fall in the value of the pound but it was still an eye-watering bill!

I have both a BMW System 6 Evo and a C3 (not pro).

In the rain, the EVO is my helmet of choice. It's totally watertight whereas the C3 leaks like a sieve.

I suspect it's a combination of maintenance and screen position that's the cause/answer...

I thought Schuberth made the Evo 6 for BMW?

I've got the Schuberth E1 and it doesn't leak but I've been lucky in the 3-4 months I've had it as I've not been caught in heavy rain (I ride everyday). I did get a little bit of misting under the pinlock on the lower centre right about the size of a 20p in very cold temps but it wasn't a big deal. The visor vent is very effective even when I have my screen up. The worst thing about the E1 is the peak moves about a bit in the wind under high speeds. It's a very comfy and quiet helmet, although I do wear custom made SoundEars.
