Hi,

Anyone on this site had experience with fitting automcom headset to Scuberth J1? Search doesn't reveal anything as far as I can see.

Inner padding (cheeks) on my J1 seems to be im-moveable.

I like the helmet (a lot even with shortfalls) but need comms.

Advice appreciated

Ive fitted a lot of J1's and the cheek pads can be taken out so our headsets can be fitted inside them. There is a single plastic popper/press stud that holds each cheek pad in place and they are aslo sloted into the skull part of the helmet to stop them moving around.

So for the speakers we peel back the black cloth of the cheek pads and use some self adhesive velcro strips to hold the speakers down in place. These are fitted onto the polystyrene of the cheek pads so the cloth will cover the speakers. More velcro strips are used to hold the cheek pad lining back in place. We run the speaker cable for the R/H/S speaker around the back of the helmet.

For the wiring loom there are large rectangular sections in the cheek pads where the main loom can be fitted, again a strip of velcro is used to hold the loom in place.

Mic wise we run the end of the boom through the cheek strap so red cable end through first. make sure you have got enough length for correct mic positioning and we also fit an open face conversion kit to help protect the mic more from all the noises running into it. The boom is secured onto the outer side of the cheek pad close to where the wiring loom is fitted.

I think this has covered it all, but if not let me know
