Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Surely some of you have seen my bad raves about how crap I think my Schuberth is. But maybe now is the solution, Schuberth have at last, two years later than originaly planned brought out a visor with 12 volt heated element. Just like the car. Anyone tried it yet or like me think that 130Euros is a bit steep.

140 Euros? I wish..

Its £140 at SPC. Though it has been out since last year, at least in the UK.

Way too high a price for me. But then my experience has been quite different.

I have been told that the anti-fog coating will wear off of the standard visor with frequent washing. Which stands to reason really. A standard visor from SPC is £40 as well!

A combination of tiny amounts of washing up liquid, frequent cleaning and an head-over (stretchy lycra neck tube thing) pulled over the mouth and nostrills do the job very well in my case.

Experience....not quite.....

In the late eighties I had a BMW System 2 helmet, also made by Schuberth and purchased their heated visor whilst on tour in Germany.....

Even though the helmet wasn't as sophisticated as current designs, the heated visor was a first class bit of kit, enabling a completely closed visor to be kept clear in all conditions.

Being a spectacle wearer, riding with even a partially open visor used to give me all kinds of condensation problems.

Having said that, better helmet ventilation and visor coatings both permanent & temporary now make the heated visor concept almost redundant, especially at such relative high price.
