Scooters in the Sahara 2013

Thanks guys... I'm now back home at last, at least for a while. Still have space for a couple more riders is anyone is interested. Although I must say the team is shaping up well with the important posts of Medic, Mechanic and Chef filled so I'm a very happy bunny.

Either PM me or email [email protected]

Dennis, I'm sure I know the answer to this question but I'll ask anyway:
What % of donations to the Scoots Virgin Money Giving site arrives in The Gambia?

Hi Jim, I'm sure you do too! Virgin Giving is a 100% not for profit organisation. WE paid a one-off £100+vat set up fee and now every penny donated plus of course the 25% Gift Aid goes directly to the benefit of Bansang Hospital with "nowt taken out" All thanks to that very nice man Mr Branson....:bow:clap:thumb

Just picked up a couple of C90s on fleaBay at sensible prices for a change! Also had another couple of enquiries from potential riders last night... So it looks like this years trip may well fill up after all Whoopee!:aidan

Of the bikes delivered so far, what is the average mileage done before a bike is taken out of service for spares or the bin?

Impossible to say as there are far too many variables. Some C90 have been cherished and pampered all there lives, other have have been owned by total numpties. The biggest factor in keeping them running is regular oil changes in which case 30 to 40k is not a problem I would suggest. In my experience it's fairly rare to pick one up at a sensible price with less that about 25k on it.

Congratulations Dennis!

Had a great weekend with Dennis. He rode down from South Wales on his C90 to take part in the 2013 Exmoor Run which is organised by my local Classic Bike Club. We then spent Saturday afternoon giving the bike a good fettling. The ride on Sunday was a lovely 105 mile route over Exmoor with stops for coffee and lunch. The day was capped off by Dennis winning the trophy for the furthest travelled bike, putting all the bigger bikes to shame. Dennis ran out of fuel 5 miles from the end having travelled 100 miles on a full tank - about 25 miles than he usually gets! He put this down to the slow speeds of his fellow participants, who he claimed were holding him up!!!:D

The evening ended with a nice pork casserole and much beer, wine and rum! :friday

Nice one Dennis:thumb2

Great T-shirt, I have one exactly the same.:)

Let me know if there is anything whatsoever that I can do to help with the next trip.

Cheers Sid, much appreciated. I think (LOL) that it's reasonably under control at the moment although could still do with a couple more riders:aidan Can't think of any nutters that might want to join us I suppose???:beerjug:

Cheers Paul, May have to pick up coolboxes at South Molton in the next cople of weeks. Are you still back and forth to London or are you now a gentleman of leisure ?:beerjug:

It's nearly departure time !!!

Less than four weeks to go until our departure on the 18th October from Portsmouth.

Web site and the Virgin Giving sites all updated with new team photos, so have a look and see if you know anyone and get behind them with your support.:beerjug:
