Well, every time I have been on a Brittany Ferries trip across the sea, they have ratchet strapped across the seat of my motorcycles.
My guess with a scooter it will be either across the foot platform or still over the seat.
Let us know which way they decide to secure your scooter.

Over the seat on all of them, and on the centre stand. Some took more care / nicer cushions to protect the seat.
