Scoots In The Sahara Update thread

How do we know for sure? :nenau

It could all be an elaborate hoax, the photo's we've seen could have been taken at Pinewood Studios and they're all really on the lash in some Lap Dance club in London! (If we can't trust NASA can we trust TITS?) :nenau

Well done all! Can't wait for the DVD :bow

:)

So pleased everybody has made it safely............they all should have a well deserved rest but........seems like theres lots of help needed around the Hospital.......well done to Jez and Jase for following the team out and volunteering their time.

Lets not forget these guys (and one Lass) have given up both their time and money to do this thing, as well as the risks involved.

Much respect to all concerned......... :clap :clap :clap ........ :bow

Have really enjoyed following the thread. Glad they've arrived safe and sound and had some fun along the way.

You are all truly gods, to reach the end of your destination.

Hope the journey from Tantan went as smooth as it sounds

Big respect :thumb :thumb

I really envy the guys and gals who were fortunate enough to have been able to participate in the trip. I also have a huge respect for what you have done, knowing that it was a difficult journey in challenging conditions. Well done to you all! :)

CONGRATS!!!!!!!

WONDERFUL! I'm so glad they've made it there safely.

Txt to say,
" Having a good time. Very, very hot today. Unpacked the van and had to take everything through customs. Took a very long time. Hope to go to school tomorrow. Heading out now for dinner." :bounce1

Update from Bill:

Work in progress...

1. Due to an emotional day yesterday when the team were shown the children's burial ground. Work has begun to protect the graves from being exhumed by hyenas...! At present the nurses place cardboard and heavy rocks on top of graves as a deterrent. The team are buying bricks to build a defencable solid wall to protect and enclose this area.

2. The incinerator which has not worked for some months is having an overhall. Apparently they are going to chuck a couple of flares in first to see if they can rectify the blockage..!!

3. On a more sustainable note a local guy will be given full mechanical training to provide general maintenance to the scooters with a real wage being provided through the funds raised.

4. Our resident nurse Jaq started on the wards this morning at 8am, providing her wealth of knowledge and skills to those desperately in need.

5. The hospital has NO electricity at the moment. This means that water supplies are also disfunctional due to lack of electricity to the pumps.

The Team have a lot to do and are really knuckling down to it… Jez and Jason arrive tomorrow so there will be more hands at the ready… lets hope they can achieve as much as possible in the short time available…

Best of luck to them all…. :bow :bow :bow :clap :clap :clap

Maria, you do realise that Jason owes you big time...

...for letting him go off and have all this fun while you get left behind.

It has got to be worth at least a trip to the Offroad Skills Course as recompense, don't you think? :beerjug:

PS: Immensely well done to the mad tossers involved!!!! :clap

"The team is now tucking in to Jim McShoutys beer round that just arrived with Jason and Jez. Please say thank you to Jim. We fixed an incinerator an ultrasound and various other stuff. Dennis has been teaching Mariama to ride a scooter she's never even ridden a push bike before... all are well, we're back on the 24th.."

Well done Jim, I'm sure that your round was much appreciated.. maybe you could replicate that sentiment at the next Yorkshire meet coming up... mines a pint of your finest ale thank you... :thumb :D
