Update

The Chuck-Wagon is on a low-loader heading for the highlands, his reverendship was dropped off at Luton airport in time for the 16:15 Easyjet to Edinburgh. Apparently it wasn't the thermostat but was possibly the head gasket.

Under strict instructions to tell you that Charles did get on the 4.15 p.m. flight to Edinburgh and it even got in early! He got the bus into Edinburgh and missed the bus home by 5 minutes. Hopefully though he is now on the 7.10 p.m. bus to Hawick and should be here by 9.45p.m.
Many thanks to Paul for rescuing him and getting him to the airport. :thumb
He'll no doubt be chatting to you later - about 5 minutes after he gets in!!!

Lynne

:( Poor old Charles...what a grotty ending to the trip!!

At least it'll have given him a few more hours to think up an explanation for the tattoo and piercing :D

Let us know when yer in Charles :thumb

Poor old Charles...what a grotty ending to the trip!!

I second that, I thought I'd had a rough trip back but it didn't come even close. Rocky had hand brake problems when he picked up his car so I spent almost 4 hours sat outside the petrol station at Aust, because the services are no longer 24hrs. as I had given away all my warm gear at Bansang I was damn near suffering from hypothermia by the time he got to me at 4.15am.

Hope you are now home and showing off the tat with a nice glass of finest malt in your mit :beerjug:

ps. looking forward to seeing you at Sunday's 10am service :D

Can I also add my great big thank you to all the TITS/helpers/supporters for an amazing trip. To all the TITs I'm really sorry for my early rising/snoring/general grumpy old man syndrome........But hey we really did it didn't we......can't wait for the next nutty idea :bow

Thanks guys for your concerns yesterday.
Thanks to Clive and Tom for the lifts from Bristol to London.
Thanks to Speggo for the bacon sarnies at Bill's place - I've now got the squits, which I hasten to add, i did not have in Africa.
Thanks to Bill for the 4 or so hours or so kip.
Thanks to Paul for the lift to the industrial estate known as Luton.
Thanks to the AA for getting my car back to Hawick sometime this morning.
Traipsied through the streets of Edinburgh and no-one wanted to be my friend. No-one smiled at me. No-one wanted my email address. There were no urchins in the street wanting my gaskette, or t-shirt or jacket. And no-one wanted money off of me - which for Edinburgh was a real surprise!

Thanks to: Steve and Rebecca and Paige - for their hospitality and objectivity. :)
Jason & Jamie for the lifts from Dover. To all you mad buggers who turned up at Dover and then came back and kept my nervous family informed that we had actually got that far - nice to meet you Gecko.
To Steptoe - what a lovely man. ;)
To the Irish Tossers and their puncture repair kit, words do not cover it.:beerjug:

Bill, Steve, Steve, Paul, Dennis, Jaq, Ian: for the many ways that you fitted in to make this actually work, pull it together and put up with all the BS that went on in different places from Border Guards to (alleged) Police Officers, I thank you. Some of you drink:beer:far too much beer. Some of you fart more than is required.:eek Some of you are very quiet sleepers - once you go to sleep that is:ymca. And some of should not ever be let out on your own again:bounce1. My thanks to you all.
For keeping my family informed of what was goiing on, I would like to thank the rest of you who participated through this thread. My wife is now planning a trip to Fiji in recompense - although how she is going to get there and back over a weekend I do not know.
More pictures, in jokes, sarcastic comments, and bad taste to follow no doubt.

ps Bill, I still have my pics on my memory card, so the info about Smugmug would be welcome.

I've emailed all the TITS the details of my smugmug account so you can get your pics up online...If anyone doesn't get the mail, just let me know and I'll PM it across as well.

Cheers

Guys, and Jaq, well done to you all. I, and I am guessing, quite a few others, are very jealous of your experiences, I only wish I was able to have joined you. Over the last year there have been one or two little 'spats' between us all, myself included, but this puts it all into perspective. Everyone who took part in this, from the main players to those on the periphery (big word look it up :dabone ) should be rightly proud of themselves. :thumb

I know that, despite that fact that you presumably had a great time, it is cots individuals a lot of time and money, but I hope the rewards are worth it.

What you have done and achieved, is the reason why I frequent this non-club.

Well done y'all

Our pleasure. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Fair play to you lot, we were really impressed with your antics and I was glad to see that you made it back safely.

Hi Sugarcube,
As the tosser who got the puncture I can only echo Rev Chucks sentiments. I huge thanks, not only for the help with the puincture but also the 3 bike escort...........great fun and it made our first night run on the scoots a hell of a lot safer. Thanks a lot :beerjug:

Funniest part though must have been watching that Moroccan guy's face as we spoke to Aidan on the laptop in the hotel foyer.....telling the chappy that there was a little man in the laptop might have pushed it a wee bit far but he was gobsmacked :D

Cheers guys! :clap :clap

I thought it was funny when we told him to tell Aidan that he was a tosser!

Ho boy, where to start?

Thank you, everyone, for you support, your good wishes, your generous donations.

Special thanks to Jamie & Jason for their heroic drive through France & Spain, for doing the “dirty work” & not getting the credit they deserve.

Thanks Neil, I was happier in those first days knowing that you where there just “floating about”.

To Chris & BHT who were “available if needed”, I’m glad you were, but pleased you weren’t (If you know what I mean.).

To the TiTs, Ian, Dennis, Charles, Steve, Jaq, Paul & Bill many thanks. For everything.

And Jez, to miss out on such a trip, at such short notice, yet fly to Gambia with Jason to help was astonishing. Words fail me. :bow

Little pieces keep dropping into place.

Paul’s face; his beard, eye-brows and hair singed by the incinerator he’d just fixed.

Dennis’s expression when Anita told him she was waiting for an x-ray. Hope your feeling better mate.

Jaq’s knickers; drying on her wing mirror, flapping in the breeze as she burnt us all off.

How the F*** DO you get a camel into the back of a Land Rover? :nenau

And Bill, cheers TOSSER! :thumb

We’ll always have “pavlova”.

Steve

As Sugarcube has already said, it was our privilege to have played a tiny part in your massive undertaking - still don't know how youse managed to ride those things all the way to Gambia - hats off to you :clap :clap :clap

Meeting you lot only confirmed my suspicions that you're all mad barstewards :D :D

Wee chap indeed, now that is pushing it a fair bit. Although I'm relieved to still be a little smaller than the Big Ginger Tosser. :D :dabone

Seriously though, well done to all. You have earned the right to be truly proud.

:bow :clap :bow :clap
