After Dent, i met up with some of the Yorksha gang to join them on a trip to Inveraray this week - they were doing a day at MotoScotland, so we spent 3 days there

It's a part of Scotland that I've never been to before, the area southwest of Oban and I must say, it's impressive

Stormy skies over Loch Fyne

Inveraray, in unusual light

.... the harbour, at low tide

Next morning, whilst the other 5 went off for their offroad foray, I took a trip to explore the area and started off on the south side of Loch Awe

Onto Ardishaig, to be greeted by brilliant views of the southern Loch Fyne

I left the Tarbet road and took the minor road to Kilberry and Kilberry Head............deserted

At Kilberry I stumbled onto the Kilberry Stones, which were carved in prehistoric times - some 1500 years ago - fascinating

Meandering on to picturesque Tarbet Harbour, for lunch and found the superb Ca Dora cafe

I then had a trip over to Skipness and it's castle, which afforded great views over Kilbrannan Sound to the Isle of Arran

Next day we had a ride down to Campbeltown for more stunning roads, before heading home on Friday

Short but sweet, however my appetite is whetted to do some Island hopping in future

Nice photos and a bonny bike :thumb2

Good one JB :thumb

A beautiful area, I've sailed a 34' cruiser around those seas, into Tarbert and Inverary ... a very long time ago :rob

Good to see you're getting the hang of that new camera ... great photo's :thumb

Campbeltown!...........Where my father and family are from.......many happy school hol's spent visiting relatives there. Stunning scenery, as is shown in the pics :thumb2

Argyllshire, with Galloway, another neglected area of Scotland. A'body batters on up to the north west! Time to,get the bike packed.

Will you lot stop telling the world how good you think these areas are! You all know nothing, a bunch of dunderheids. You've shown the only days when it will be sunny, the rest will have horizontal rain, 5 degrees C and trillions of sabre toothed midges that can empty you of blood in about 3 seconds.

Now do yoursleves a favour and stick to the wonderful roads you have in the big cities down south :P As for you Scotboxer, you should know better than to lure the poor suckers up here :)

I'm still waiting for a window in the weather. Whether it will ever get f'kin warmer and dryer. Longest winter I've ever known.:blast
Can't see myself braving the elements for 10 days at anything less than occasional rain whilst under canvas.
Will just have to use plenty of midge repellent when dryer times set in.:trippy

BTW great pics..

Ahem ... I should have added of course that, as a native, I'm inured to the gloomy skies and perpetual rain which encourages said insect life. Southern softies will find it unbearable. The occasional Geordie or Yorkshireman might just be tough enough to take it for a week or so though.

Nice little report, JB.:thumb

I'd like to get to Scotland more, but unless we do motorways there and back, it's at least a 5 day round trip.

Eh?

I left here..Glenshee...10pm Tuesday, drove to Baldock, had an hours kip, drove to WGC, threw MIL on top of dog, drove back arriving 4 pm. Had a spare driver but not needed....and that's in a Skoda!! 904 miles in a oner.

Get a grip man. 6 hrs on a motorway and you are in biking nirvana.. Go A1, A66, M6 and you're there

Nice pics JB - must have caught the 5 minutes it wasn't raining...

A few of my own: En route via Loch Thom, Inveraray, one with you in it at Grogport on the B842 and finally back at Dent (in the sunshine :))

A great few days despite the weather, always good to ride with people you can trust. Like herding cats though, leading that ride to Campbeltown...

JB in Leyburn?

Johnny,
Were you in Leyburn on Friday at around 2pm?
I was parked up (car) in the square, just got out of the car when I think you rolled by on the GS?

Steve

I was :)
Just getting cash out at Barclays

Going up to Dumfries & Galloway to meet Petcul & a few others from here

After Leyburn my screen bolts fell out & I has to nip home to rob some off my other GSA

Yesterday my rear tyre punctured, torn & shredded - managed to use 2 plugs to get me to last night's hotel in Stranraer

Tyre cried enough overnight & ride of shame home on a tow truck

Bad trip this weekend - but shit happens
