Scotland or Bust....

Sounds great, some quality roads, but IMHO you are missing one of THE best roads, Ullapool To Durness/Tongue :drool

Enjoy :thumb2

PS, I"m just off the M6, Junction 23, should you need a brew etc, or even a bed.

:beerjug:

Thanks, may well take you up on the offer of a brew...

So on your and everyone else's advise the route now head north from Ullapool to Durness - Bettyhill - Altnaharra - Inverness then a 'quick' run to the Lakes and then home.....

:thumb

Wise choice.....tell us what you think after you've been!!!

Lake District would be lovely if only gazillions of other people didn't think so as well!!!!

Didn't realise we'd left that much :blast

One cracking road is Spean Bridge to Newtonmore, A96 work it in somehow, one of the best in Scotland

And if you use the A9, turn off at Dalwhinnie, the A889 is 10 of the best miles you can get I reckon. A few sets of 2 corners with perfect lines and angles, brilliant fun trying to get them just right :thumb2

A96 ??? what you been drinking ffs, worst feckin road in the history of the world :blast :rob avoid at all costs.:hide

Enjoy. Most roads are good.

I like Loch Lomond - Inveraray - Lochgilphead - Oban - Tyndrum - Fort William - Ullapool

And Perth - Blairgowrie - Tomintoul - Inverness - John O' Groats - Ullapool

You'll guess from all the above you just have to get to Ullapool then you're near some of the best roads in the UK.

Dumfries has some nice roads too.

Just pray for weather. Last May I enjoyed the 2 heat wave days. And a couple of days in April 2011 weren't too shabby either. A few snaps to whet your appetite.

Day 4 to Ullapool for the early ferry

The A835 that takes you into Ullapool is a great strip of tarmac from Contin, about 40 miles of serious fun, love riding it, even driving it in an Artic can be interesting...:thumb

Taking a breather here...:thumb
