Scotland or Bust....

3 days from south of London to Scotland!!! poofs!!! Get on with it man! ||Get to Ullapool! See some manly roads! Go to Durness and Lairg in a day! Don't fuck about!! PM me when you're near! |Live it! Wankers!!( see the time). Best roads in the UK, Ullapool to Durness, to Betty hill, to Lairg, to Ullapool.
I can do it from Larndon to home( Glenshee), in the snow, on a failing bike, in 6 hrs, having left here at 4 am, flown to Larndon Gatwick, train to Larndon ClapHam, drive back and then get pissed!!

Get a grip!!

Mullyon places to stay!

'sposed to be bikers!!

Sleep in a ditch!!

A68= boring pish with cameras! Thrash up the motorway to Erskine Bridge, up Loch Lomondside, Tyndrum, across Rannoch, into Lochaber and the world is your lobster!!

One day from Sussex! Tops!

Poofs!!

If going up the A9 corridor a good tip is to have a decent map and try to pick up the remaining sections of the old A9. These are now B roads and the longest section is from Pitlochry to Calvine.

Will you be taking in the Scottish pre-'65 two-day trial at Kinlochleven on 3rd & 4th May??

May see you there :thumb.

Bob.

Hi Bob
Planning to travel up on the Saturday and arrive in / near Fort William on the Sunday then have a day or two watching the trial and rest of the week around the west coast not planned too much yet.

You been at the Blackloonies left over Jeger? :jager

Didn't realise we'd left that much :blast

One cracking road is Spean Bridge to Newtonmore, A96 work it in somehow, one of the best in Scotland

And if you use the A9, turn off at Dalwhinnie, the A889 is 10 of the best miles you can get I reckon. A few sets of 2 corners with perfect lines and angles, brilliant fun trying to get them just right :thumb2

A wee detour to Kinloch on the Sunday to see the classics would be well worth the effort.

All planned.... With a few detours to be added as we go I'm sure. Big thanks to Pablo1 for the map source routes now edited for my purposes.
Day 1 all motorway from the south coast to Glasgow...yawn. Day 2 and 3 bimble around west coast to Stornaway ferry. Stay with family for a few days. Then across Scotland to easy coast and meander down and west to the Lake District and then a day to blast home.

Hopefully some good weather, good road and decent island malts - happy days!

Noooooo...don't go east from Ullapool....go north.......and across top to Bettyhill the back down to Lairg. Ullapool to Durness simply stunning..don't miss it...theres not much to see/ride on the east, and the best roads in the place to the north. Honest.

Let us know how you get on
p.s. interested in what you decided for your final route

enjoy:beerjug:

So, turns out I wasnt finished....after some more tinkering the route is begining to look like
Day 1 to Carlisle
Day 2 round the south west 'corner' of Scotland to Glasgow
Day 3 Loch Lomond National Park, Cairngorms to Aviemore then Inverness
Day 4 to Ullapool for the early ferry

for the return
Down the west coast to Oban
After that a run to the Lakes - break for the night and the run home

Any more thoughts or suggestions welcome, although I'm getting bored of staring at route planners and tend to follow my nose a bit when I get going...and yes I do get lost a lot!

Sounds great, some quality roads, but IMHO you are missing one of THE best roads, Ullapool To Durness/Tongue :drool

Enjoy :thumb2

PS, I"m just off the M6, Junction 23, should you need a brew etc, or even a bed.
