I have copied this from "I new here"

This is my first ride on a 1200gs

Flew up to Glasgow from Exeter at 13.00 arrived at airport at 14.30 the flight was very bumpy from the Lake district up wards the sky was looking lovely and blue and I thought to my self looks like the weather people have got it wrong and I should have a nice ride back HOW WRONG I WAS.

David who I was buying the bike from picked me up from the airport and took me back to Preswik Ayr to get the bike, while we were sorting every thing out the weather changed very quickly to heavy rain and very very very strong winds. He asked me if I want to have a test ride and I said no, I will just take it.

Filled up at Asda in Preswick while David held the bike to stop it blowing over , set of about 16.30

The bike was Brilliant the weather was very bad lost count of how many times I was nearly blown of the bike and that was just going along the A70, there was parts of trees down wheely bins in the road just to mention a few things, I was waiting to see cows and sheep fly across me I was beginning to think that I had made a serious mistake of riding back in them conditions and I only had another 400 miles to go, on the M74 was not much better my speed on the A70 was about 20mph due to the strong side winds so on the M74 I thought it would be abit better but I was very wrong blown onto the hard shoulder loads of times could only do about 35-40mph max because of side winds.

Once I got to Carlise it got abit better, stopped at the services just north of Kendal filled up with fuel had a coffee and a snicker left a HUGE puddle of water were I stood. Set off again and felt abit warmer now, when I got back on the motorway again the wind seemed to have dropped and the rain had eased abit so opened her up abit and manged to keep a steady 80ish untill I got to Stoke area when it started to rain heavy again.

Stopped at Brimingham services refueled the bike and carried on again when I got to Gloucster the wind had picked up and again with the Heavy rain very strong side winds again it was interesting to say the least going down a straight bit of motorway but banked over at 45 degrees to keep the bike on the road .

Got home just gone midnight Lynn stayed up and had made some home made soup so wihile I had a quick shower to warm up she warmed the soup up for me.

So all in all the Journey took me an Hour and half longer then I had planned but allowing for the adverse weather condtions (did I mention the wind) I didn,t think that was to bad

The BMW1200GS was a joy to ride the seat was very comfy, would I do it again in them same condition NO WAY that was very scarey in places so things can only get better and I look forward to many happy miles with her, I have no aches or pains at all I only have a small blister on my right hand which I think is from hanging onto the grips for dear life sometimes

Also thank God it had heated grips

A baptism of fire for you on your new bike. Glad to hear that you both made it home safely.

Hope you have many years and many miles of good times together (along with your new top box :D)
