Just a quick question - me and a mate are coming up to the Fort William area sometime this winter to tick off our first few Munros and I was wondering how much daylight they're be? We've thinking of either mid Feb (school half term) or late March (Easter hols). Mid feb is better for us but if there's only 4 hours of daylight or summat we'll wait till a bit later.

And yes, we will be drinking beer at the Lochy. :thumb

The light is not the factor you need to watch at these times its the Weather ,late March its light to 7 oclock plus

I know it's the weather we need to watch, but if the weather was clear what sort of time is sun up/sun down? Useful to know that for March though, cheers! :thumb2

Make sure you're well kitted up and you'll be fine. Would not advise this at that time of year!

Perfect! Thanks chaps. And don't worry, Scotboxer, we've both got plenty of experience so shouldn't be calling on mountain rescue through our own stupidity! :thumb

Hi Daivd, as mentioned it’s the weather that will dictate the amount of daylight hours. Regardless of sunrise/set times, some days its just different shades o grey!
Keep an eye on mountain weather sites, they give good and fairly accurate information on the factors that will matter to you. Updated about 4 o clock every day.

If you need any help with accommodation etc just shout :thumb2
Febuary can be really good:eek

your first Munros, in winter :blast you can almost hear the helicopters
Like I said, we've both spent plenty of time in mountains, just not Scottish ones. ;)

Thanks for the link GC. And part of our plan was to contact you to see if you could recommend somewhere decent to stay. Once we've got our dates sorted I'll be in touch. :thumb2
