Scottish Motorcycle Show - 12th March 2016

I'll be there at 9 sharp tomorrow. Triumph just past its MOT :D

Went today. Good day out. Whoever said it was a glorified autojumble was beeing a bit disengenerus. Recommended. JJH

Funny how people's opinions differ. I REALLY struggled to spend 2 hours there, including watching the stunt display. I did see some nice classics and had a chat with a few interesting people, but it was as much an auto jumble/tool sale/fast food outlet as a bike show. Not that I was surprised - it's always the same.

There's a classic bike show in Ayr in June, I might give that a try.

I live in Ayr ..its quite a good day out

It was ok. I had an interesting chat with Clive from Moto Scotland and likewise with one of the guys on the Crossan Motorcycles stand which is what I've come to expect with our Irish friends. I met up with one of my good GS riding friends to wander round. He was one of the few black people I saw there. We spoke to the guy from Leven who is an agent for a Dutch sidecar company and has one attached to his blue GS, reminisced about Commandos with the guy from St Andrews who had his John Player Commando on a stand. I sat on an MT10 Yamaha and an Africa Twin. I took a few pics, we bought some lunch and my friend ordered a pair of Held gloves from Crossan's and that was it. It was ok.

If anyone is going to the Scottish Motorcycle Show http://www.scottishmotorcycleshow.com/ on Saturday 12th March, come by stand H187 http://www.motoscotland.com/ and say hello to me :thumb2

I went with a couple of mates and we met HogHog . . . .

We had a good chat, picked up a brochure and were enthused at the prospect of doing one of their courses (whether we do or not will depend on a number of factors later in the year :augie).

I seemed to be bumping into people I knew all day and for once thoroughly enjoyed the day out. Usually I have a quick look around and leave but this time I was there for six hours . I spent far too much on tools & consumables but it was all stuff that I needed.

I thought it was better this year, but that may just be because I was in a better frame of mind. It was good to see the new bikes and the 'Classics' and to get some enthusiasm for the coming season (I went to the 'Bristol Classic M/C Show at Shepton Mallet on the 1150GSA in Feb - so I have been out on a bike this year ;)).

I quite enjoyed the day yesterday, met up with a mate from Crief, we thought it was busy, and noticed all the old bikes were owned by Mick Grant !! Weather wasn't bad quite warm really.

Along to the show today, very busy , lots of bikes out in the good weather, had a wee chat to John McGuiness , gave him a few riding tips, as you do.:D

All the usual stuff, a good day out..

Went today and you can see the decline in the trade side.

The classic/ club bikes really are growing in show maturity and are probably now the best area of the show
WTF is the middle tat hall all about, army surplus and a large generic tool stand.
The trade area was disappointing, however it was good to see a decent number of bike manufactures - but what happened to the clothes sellers?
I went armed to buy leathers for the wife not one decent jacket or trousers, even looking for a branded pair of leather jeans for myself or a pair of short gloves - nothing :-(

They really are having a laugh at charging £20 for the day though
