Scottish Motorcycle Show

I too subscribe to "use it or lose it". So popped down on the bike.
Made it part of a run out for the day, which was a good one as it happens. Roads were in good order and not cold.
Then it is more about £16 to get in and the petrol cost is part of play on the back roads.

My expectations of the show these days are not too high, but actually enjoyed this year I think because it was more because I seen it as a break in a run.

Had a look at the new VFR, :barf looked more like a glorified scooter IMO.
The new Triumph- well it looked well spec'd but not convinced about the luggage arrangement.
But I would like a go of one.

The Classic section - seemed better than usual.
Might have been the way it was laid out, but certainly was a walk down memory lane for me.

The only thing I bought was a type of hose attachment, looked a useful tool.

So good day out for me.:thumb2

I was gonna go. All dressed up ready for the off.

Then the Suzuki Bandit 1250 Hire Bike from BLD wouldn't start. Not a single amp or volt or anything!

Now do I vent my anger at Suzuki for a crap bike...or

BLD...for giving me a crap bike....or

Or the Renault Clio driver who changed lanes into the back of the GS...?

Just been to the show, less exhibits than usual in the halls or outside, too much 'junk' stands. Good that my mate got a new shoei £100 off list price. Enjoyed the Classic hall as much as the main hall....

Been watching quite a few bikes heading north up ther A1 towards Edinburgh this morning............Then heading back down again this afternoon......!

Amazing what you can see out of a John Deere window:blast

Another just back. Met Andy T and Stumpy, bought a pair of sexy goggles for use in the tricycle, bought a £3.80 hamburger, and watched Steve Parrish trying to pretend he wasnt bored while he handed out awards to the old codgers for their shiney bikes, most of which last turned a crank in the sixties.

Sat on the new Triumph shaft drive traily thing. It was nice.
Sat on a Victory cruisery thing . It was nice.
Wanted to sit on the face of one of the Harley girls. That would have been nice.

I thought the goggles might be to stop you getting splashes in your eyes....:drool

£16  ,,,, Still its a day out n wifie n me always go i enjoyed it. That trumpet 1200 is getting to be not too far off the mark 135 ggs as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!! methinks a wee run on one might be in order in due course once they have the bugs ironed out !!

On the way South to the Forth Bridge about 10.00 just before the 40mph SPECS restriction at Dunfermline I was passed by four of Fife's finest playing formation flying at about 80. (I was in 'the company car' and was on exactly 70...)
They at least kept at 40 for that section before blasting off at the end and the 50 limit on the Bridge seemed to be ignored as they were passing the old Toll Plaza when I reached the high point of the Bridge.
Leading by example and all that.
Just jealous they were getting paid to fart about in a gang today and go to the Bike Show.

popped in yesterday afternoon. Sure its down on the high days of 10yrs ago, but yes, use it or lose it. Classic hall was full of lovely bikes. Took the opportunity to get a new jacket and trousers, and try on a few helmets for the wish list.
I think as a shopping experience it permits access to lots of stuff that is not always readily accesible in Scotland.
Shame BMW didn't have a stand.

If I was a critic, it would be of so many new bikes that have curvy plastic bolted to them, perhaps I'm getting old, but they don't look as good as they used to. mind you I said that about the new blade when it came out, I now think its georgeous....

I was up at the crack of dawn (well 0720hrs actually) ready for an early start down to teh show. Stopped off for breakfast at the horn which was a huge dissapointment although the Polish girl who served me made up for that. Got to the show nice and early for a change and had a really good unrushed day. My mate was exhibiting the Neracar on the Vintage stand so it was my duty to go and wing him up;) Also met Den and Stumpy (See you managed to get the discount on your goggles Den). I havn't seen Stumpy for ages. He was working on the Japanese Classic bike stand.

Not bothered about teh lack of BMW stand as nothing new to show that I'm interested in - although I do like them new scoots:P

Really liked the 1200 Triumph adventure but also liked teh more traditional Triumphs on display (Thunderbird, America, Bonneville etc). The new 1200 I think will be a winner although the luggage is awful. I saw the new 'moving' luggage on the Tiger 800XC and it looks scary although must work (I hope).

I really like the new Honda 1200 Tourcross think although the Triumph has the edge. Had another look at the 1000 Versys but still prefer the 650 version.

Best stand of teh show for me was the Victory (if you don't incluude the Carol Nash girls:green gri). The Victory bikes are finished off so well and are far to comfy to be a cruiser, I can really see me on one of those one day.

Anyway, All in all a great day, if just for a day out with the lads talking shite about bikes.

Oh and best bike of the show for me was any of the Kawasaki KH750 triples on the Kawasaki Triples club stand, they were all immaculate and a credit to their owners.:beerjug:

I was there, show was busy on the Saturday and Sunday was OK, I note the comments on the perceived enjoyment on the show. For what its worth it is cheaper and bigger than the London show at Excel even if the venue is a little drab. Yes there were a few less traders but I saw some had gone outside (cheaper :nenau), no BMW but they cheapen themselves by not going when others do and punting a couple of bikes on the IAM stand with a banner only enhanced the penny scrimping of it IMHO.

Classic area had lots of shiny stuff in and I got to meet Sir Stumpy who was on good form. We had a good overall show especially the Saturday and other than causing a security alert by taking ear moulds through in hand luggage at Edinburgh airport (they look just like plastic explosives apparently) :blast I was home and dry by 11 Sunday night :thumb

Recession busting night out in Dunfermline was good too :thumb

Thought that was you on the earplug stand Mr Judge. Wiznae sure though. Too skinny I thought !
