Here's the problem - I'm 6'3" and ride a 1150 GSA. What's the best solution to the buffeting I'm getting? Should I look at a taller screen or torbinators? Anyone any experience of both?

TIA,

David Hale

MRA adjustable screen (plus 1150GS plastic side bits to make it adjustable - about £15)
Then you get 3 position tilt, 5 Height settings and a central 'cut-out' to break up air-flow, plus you can still fit Tobinators if you need more adjustment, I'm 6'2 and works for me

I have the above setup I did have Tobinators on too, they made a hell of a difference. I had to take them off as SWMBO didn't like the airflow over her bonce, she said although there was no buffeting it felt like her lid was being pulled upwards over 60mph.

I am 6'2" and have the screen on Middle(rake/tilt) and the highest position, now I have zero buffeting and the wind (smooth flow) just catches the top of my chest.

OK as they say ignorance is bliss, but what are "torbinators". Use a adventure screen on my 1150GS, and still at 5'8" get wind noise, will torbinators help, whatever they may be !!!

I'm a tad over 6' 4" and I've tried the standard screen with/without tobinators, and a Wunderlich taller wider screen with/without tobinators. I'm in the prcess of trying the bigger screen with tobinators and a screen extension.

Whatever I do I'm still getting buffeting on the top of my head. It's driving me nuts. I've tried so many adjustments the powder coating is coming off the tobinators.

Suggestions what to try next would be gratefully recieved. :(

Madmikey...there's a very fine 'window' of adjustment to cut the buffetting out....on several occasions I've reset mine after having the screen off and even though the screen looks in a very similar position, it's taken half an hour and nunerous tweaks and a long straight fast strectch of road to get it back to buffetless.......

Persevere, moving themn a tiny bit at a time- you should find the sweet slant spot eventually.

6'4" Adv+tobinators.

Rosko......they're a very neat set of bits and bobs that enable you to move the screen up and tilt it back or forwards to eliminate buffetting....do a search for them using the button at the top of the page and all will be revealed.
Nippy Norman sels them but they were designed and are made by our very own Andy Tobin, allround good-guy and mobile phone guru ;)

The full story here. And, yes, they will help. I have the same set up and am two inches taller than you. Works a treat for me.

The side bits he's referring to are standard on the R1150GS (not Adv) screen - they have a small slotted rear section allowing a bit of tilt adjustment to the screen.

Any chance of one of you putting pictures of the Tobinators on the site? Preferably fitted to the bike.
