Why does the right side disc have the little leg on it which sits in the adjustment groove & stops the screen moving to its highest adjustable position ?

Both sides should have it. It is to do what you said, stop it being over raised. Someone must have decided the stresses were too much. It also provides a proper stop. A few people have removed it to allow the extra height.

Removed mine when using an MRAVario. ( you need the bits fitting to it....)

Allowed it to lower a little more.... Didn't make it less secure :thumb2

Thanks for the replies - mine only had it on the right side

Had-as now its been chopped orf !

Yep - removed mine to get the screen a notch higher too. Whilst abroad last summer I had to lower it from full height as the screen was too effective and I couldn't get enough air flow so it works a treat!

You'll also need to pull on the sat nav power lead a bit if you have one mounted on the screen framework as BMW tend to install it and it gets tight on full height.

My AF330 has short Tobinlators so the screen wont go right down low without the tail edge hitting the beak bodywork. One of my to do jobs as I'd like it leaned even further back. Taking it fully up just causes turbulence so Ive never bothered about those lugs.

if you look carefully the part with the lug on and the part it fits into are marked lh and rh i think someone has been messing with yours, the lug definatly no questions goes to the top.

ok, no matter now as i have fitted a givi 330 screen and cut the lugs off the discs. works fine.

+1...

On my GS with the original screen, I'm sure it stopped the screen going lower. With the GSA screen I have fitted now, it stops it going higher. They are totally different parts as they have to fit with the support frame. I don't think they can easily be fitted upside down as they are angled. May try cutting them off as I'd like the screen slightly higher so the wind blast doesn't get me on the chin

Its called a clitoris.

Search back in threads to 2006 when Hexhead GSA was launched and there is a lot of talk of "de-clitting".

I "de-clitted" mine on day 1 of ownership in April 2006.
