Thought I'd share that I had some small cracks in my screen 14 LC, and there is a known issue. The design was changed mid 14 so if your screen is cracking your friendly dealer may sort it. Mine now has the improved design. Happy days.

kin ell ….gear boxes , Shite heated grips , early corrosion now cracking screens !!! WTF have i paid £15 grand for ??:mad:

I also had a problem with the screen cracking around the mounting holes on my 2014 GS LC. The dealer (Cotswold) replaced the defective screen immediately with no quibbles, and the replacement is fine after over six months use. The new screen vibrates / flexes far less than the original item, so this was an unexpected bonus! BMW must have improved the material specification as part of the "fix" and it's noticeably better.

its a simple modification later 14 models have a rubber grommet fotted to screen mountings..

I'm waiting on a call back from Coopers (Sunderland) ref my screen - The service Dept is closed on a weekend. My screen has stress fractures around the mounting holes (Early (May) 2014 model). I doubt I would have enquired if I hadn't seen this thread...

My GS had 2 new screens and the circlips fell out probably 10 times or more. New screen mountings didn't seem to make a difference. The screen flaps around in the highest position and needs bracing and proper fixings. It seems to be a common theme with the new GS. Time will tell whether the GSA screen is any better - I've got a bag of bolts under the seat in case the circlips and bolts go walkabout. As others have said - on a £15K bike??

I took mine off a while ago to fit a Puig touring screen. There were radial cracks around the mounting holes and it was replaced by Wollastons under warranty. Apparently, the new one has modified mounts.

Yep. Mine has the modified mounts. The mechanic chap explained how to remove it. Great service. For what it's worth all 3 dealerships I have dealt with so far have been great. Allan Jefferies for test ride but couldn't land a deal. Wollaston Northampton for great buying experience. Rainbow for the after sales. Hope the positive ownership experience continues. My car experience much worse from Land Rover.

Me too...(14 GS-TE)

I found cracks around the holes, and the circlips also went awol...These things are built down to a price...
However the warranty/service from Alan Jeffries has been first class. All replaced without question.
At least the support is good, but ultimately we pay the cost when buying the bikes....

One phone call, a set of photos of the cracks along with registration plate and mileage, and Coopers have replaced the screen - no quibbles. Also did the left hand multi controller - recall apparently. All ticketyboo till the lovely lady said that the front brake master cylinder was leaking so it needs to go back in again next week.

Yep. Cleaned the bike and found cracks both sides of the screen. 2013 lc Marshalls Grimsby sorting it. Brilliant dealer highly recommended.
