Whats the tallest screen oe or aftermarket that will fit the LC gs

The oe style screen is rubbish, just directs air at either your forehead or neck,

I have an MRA aftermarket one with the adjustable extension bit, which is marginally better.

But on it's maximum extension puts the thick top lip right in your eye line, so you either have to crane your neck to see over it, or bob down to see under it

I've tried messing with it to see if i can male it better, but compared to the old Givi airflow, its nowhere near as good

I've seen some of the ones on the rallye GS GSA which look taller but from what i can see are only 430mm tall which is the same as the MRA

anyone got anything or know of anything taller?

it's not always just the size but shape as well. One of the best i tried was the madstad but it was no good for her on the back. So that's another one on the shelf.

I had a Givi screen on the last 3 GS’s and it was spot on. A 5108dt I think. It was still adjustable and kept the buffeting above my head but didn’t give the pillion any extra buffeting. Well worth the money

Have you tried cutting the MRA down ( as i have ) and repositioning the aro plate , sometimes smaller can make a great screen . I have mine in the low position and the foil at 50% , perfect . If on the M way ( not often) raise the screen to full.
I say this as i have tried the larger screens and they seemed to create more issues , sometimes less is more and back to the reason you ride a bike, wind in you face and all that. Plus a large scree you have to look thro , may as well take the car ....Less is more....IMHO of course

Try taking the screen off completely, and riding without, Mart. Then try the Rallye if that doesn’t work for you. It’s a myth that big screens are the be all and end all for cutting out buffeting.

I always ran my GS’s with small screens, did the same on the 1290’s and now have a small screen on my Multi. Big screens are crap.

Agree completely, big screens make the buffeting worse.

Have had a look at the Puig screen ? I have one on my GS and usually have it 'half way up' as you can see on the Cymarc brackets. I'm 6'2" and bike has the comfort seat which I believe is about 20mm thicker than standard. I can just feel the wind on the top of my helmet in this position, at 70 mph it's possible to ride visor up too. The only negatives for me are the increased racket from the A 41 front tyre being reflected back to the rider by the screen and when it rains it's also more difficult to see the road surface 12 foot in front of the wheel. Puig also sell the same screen with an adjustable aerofoil on it too and I have often wondered if you would get the same wind protection with screen set in a lower position.

The none vario Puig is 445mm tall, so only 15mm more than your MRA. These screen shots may be of some assistance, not sure about the height of the vario version and it says only up to 2018 year model ?

I've just fitted the ZTechnik Vstream deluxe touring screen that's made in USA. Only had a 50 mile round trip to work with it but first impressions are really good. Behind the screen is an ocean of calm, no buffeting and very quiet. I'm 6' and only need it at half height to achieve this. Also have a good, clear view over the top of it.
Deffo needs screen stabilisers so I got the Cymarc items and makes it very stable at high speeds. It does look like a huge slab of plastic on the front of the bike but comfort and quiet is preferable to me over looks. You might struggle with having it in your eye-line if you're of a shorter stature.
Very pleased with it so far and miles better than the MRA vario screen I bought recently on recommendation. No matter how I adjusted it it just blew turbulent air into my face. Might be up for sale shortly if anybody's interested.

I'm 5'8" and find the standard one too much of a compromise for all year riding. Down the years on my LC's I've tried:

1) Standard with an X-screen - was ok, but looked too much like a bodge and was a tad too noisy
2) Puig Touring - much better, can ride at pretty any speed with the visor up and no ear plugs. Too hot in summer. Setting is the lowest all the time.
3) Givi taller screen - ok, but not up to the manufacturing standard of the Puig and probably hot in summer, didn't find out due to accident.
4) Puig sports screen - too noisy for me. Purchased after some on here recommended smaller ones to cut noise. Didn't work for me, but may do for other riders as when I lifted my arse a couple of inches from the seat the noise was much less.

In all instances of larger screen/add on the standard supports wobbled too much pretty much all the time - unless very smooth road. Have mainly used Puig supports as there's no need to clamp the screen in place and can be adjusted if need be on the go - up to about 40. Givi support is for one side only and they're cheap for a reason...

I couldn't agree more. Big screens are not necessarily the best solution. Aerodynamics is a weird science and what looks obvious quite often isn't. The turbulence that we feel around the head is caused by the screen or other structures in front of the rider, or the vehicle you are following. A completely naked bike with low instruments probably gives the quietest and least disturbed airflow at the helmet as the air flow is undisturbed until it hits you! Of course that does nothing for the aerodynamic load that you have to contend with at speed or the driven rain... Life's a compromise.

I have the Puig touring. I'm 6ft tall with standard seat. With the screen (dark in my case) about halfway up I can now ride at 100mph (private road of course) with my visor open and sunglasses on without buffeting. Hasn't been an issue for me on hot days, just wear summer gear and helmet. I did need the bracing brackets which I bought off eBay rather than paying silly money. All good

+1 for the ztechnic, I´m 1.8m have the regular one and works really well

I might see if i can find a rallaye screen for comparison,

@ Rich, i dont think removing the screen would work for me,

My necks not the best after breaking it ;)

I have both the MRA Varioscreen and the Puig Touring screen.

With the MRA screen I need to play around with the height of the screen and the angle of the spoiler to optimise the wind protection and minimise buffeting.

It’s a huge improvement over stock and great for hot weather, but the Puig is more protective and quieter on the whole, especially for the pillion.

Another vote for the Puig Touring Screen - I've used with an additional adjustable spoiler and without - it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference and I can ride visor open up to 70mph. I've tried the MRA screen but wasn't impressed and sold it quickly.

In the past I've been pleased with screens I've bought from here, although I haven't tried one on the GSA - https://www.slipscreens.co.uk

I put the Puig with the spoiler on my last bike which was a 1200 GS. It worked fine but I didn't much like the aftermarket look of it so on my new 1250 I put on a GSA tinted screen so it looks like factory. There's not much to split them but having had a loaner during a service with the standard screen, I am sure that I much prefer the taller and wider GSA screen rather than standard. I am a short arse at 5'7 if that any help but can see over the GSA screen. The only downside is that if and when my visor is wet and I need a wind blast to clear it, I need to stand up on the pegs a wee bit. When its raining a lot I look bit then like a horse rider.
