Just Picked the 1200GS, 2009, up on Sat p/x the F800GS,.

I Prefer to ride with the front of the seat in the high position and the rear in the low, this is because as standard high or low the seat will force you forward. Having the front higher means you can move on the seat which is horizontal to the road and not forced forward brilliant for me.

However my local dealer says no problem with front low rear high or rear low front high, but the hand book says DONT do this as the seat may not locate or become loose if you do this!!

Anyone ride with the seat in these positions or had any problems?

Thanks

I have also done this on quite a few occasions and only problem is that my pillion complains of increased wind blast. Don't suggest a shorter wife 'cos I love this one!

get a sargent seat, much more comfy, entirely different shape , £300 bangers though ;):thumb

Lots of people do it, the warning is just arse-covering by BMW since they haven't tested it in that configuration.

front high, rear low

I have the same dislike and changed to front high rear low and the positioning is more to my taste..i took the rubbers of the foot pegs too and really like it ever since

was surprised to see the manual not recommending to have the seat on two different positions .........why?? i don't know

maybe because its a bit harder to remove the seat and put it back on ....but who cares

Thanks all,

I to have removed the rubbers off the footrests and now with the seat in high front rear low I find its perfect for me.

I will continue with this configeration, seargant seats are nice but as I found with the 800GS what works for some does not for others so I will just stick with what I have done, 300 + miles last weekend and prity good at the end with no problems in the never regions.

I was just wondering the get out clause in the manual, but as you say its probably BM just covering there arse, pardon the pun.
