Seat lowering cams - worth doing something about?

perhaps an easier way to do this is to buy the pair of rubber grommets from BMW and trim them down.

mmmm good idea fella but the seat will then move up and down as the receiving parts will be a larger diameter than the trimmed down grommets......

You describe them as CAMS which implies that they are variable adjustment.

However from the pics they look like off centre drilled roundals

Could you clarify

What would be good is several holes drilled around the perimeter at different distances from the centre hence giving a number of different height choices

Yes, you are right they are off center roundals but I use the term `cam` as they could possibly be variable - but I am not sure about that as they may move round in use, dunno fella. The middle one is a very tight fit on the middle of the of the locating pin, it doesnt move but the left and right one is lose and can move (possibly) - I`ve used a bit of electricians tape to keep them all in line - not very professional but as I said these aren`t commercial items and may not end up as such!

I might make you a set to see what you think - I am not sure if I will be selling them so if you just kindly cover the postage (£5?) I will make and send you a set to try eh fella? If they work and help then brill, perhaps you could post something to help me?

Certainly Mark - happy to help in any way. :)

fanks fella - I will send you a set to see what you think - if they work then please accept them with my compliments. dosh me up via paypal for a sky diver when you get chance and stick your address on the notes to seller eh?

What a shame the bike hasn't got on-the-fly ride height adjustment. Then we could have comfortable seat foot pegs setting and easy reach to the floor AND tall ride height while on the move.

then when the systems goes bananas ....

Ive an engineer friend who also has a lc ,been at him for about a year to do a seat lowering mount, problem is he's flat out at work and doesn't need one for his bike, just me that's a bit short.

Hes got as far as drawing it up,with a 20mm drop over standard. Hopefully get a prototype soon.

It needn't be complicated. A simple air piston on the suspension preload would do the job. Hey the same compressed air supply could start the engine. Less weight and no starting battery issues. A small tank at high pressure carries a lot of energy.
We have all sorts of complications imposed by the starter motor and big battery. An air system with a small gel cell should be less hassle.

That looks a great idea, like it..
For me I like the rear lowered too, I don't like too much forward lean as my small tender bits get squashed onto tank & on longer journeys find it uncomfortable.. .
As I progress to a GSA (eventually) I'll have to more seriously look at the lower seat option.. :beerjug:
