Seat positions and knees

I'm (only) 6ft but I recently discovered I only had the front of the seat on high but the rear was on low. I was comfy and have covered a fair few miles in this position but having made the change I felt my posture was better and I wasn't slouching.

What change did you make..............

What change did you make..............

Rear of front seat to high position. Front (tank) was already on high.

With the new position initially felt it was pushing me forward slightly but it made me sit up and I straightened my lower back as a result.

Maybe I was also sloughing behind the screen but I bought a Wunderlich screen extender at the same time as the adjustment which helped.

Interesting.. I'm 6' and on High, High with the rear forward.. its the best I've found so far, but it does get me after a bit on my bum / bones kind of area ... I may try the low at the back but that may make it worst?.. I did try my cycling shorts last weekend under my leathers, they have a thin layer of Gel in there and it did make a huge differance to comfort!...
also have std pegs so may look to lower these a tad, but what does it do for clearance on bends... I have just about caught my boot now as it is...

I do not worry about clearance in bends, if I go that fast pillion will shoot me...............

,,,,,,, also I have the lowering footpegs on to give me the extra 3 cms of knee bend

I fitted those pegs to my 2015 GSA and to my current GSA. It was only a small move lower in position (not lowest setting) but made such a difference. No ache or burning in the back of my knee.

Plus even after two years they still look like new and didn’t look scruffy at all when I put them on the new bike.

I had the same issue mate, painful after about 1.5hrs of riding. Tried the gel cycling shorts, it was OK but I bought a bean bag thingy, works for me and makes for a more comfortable ride, about £25

Seat is plenty comfy, just finding right setting for my body all is lovely jubbly now, might have a dabble with handlebars a tad forward later.

Having (relatively) recently come from the S1000RR to the GS I couldn't possibly comment. The stock GS is a big comfy armchair by comparison :)

After much faffing around being 6ft 2 and daddy long legs, I think I have found the G spot

Seat front on High at the tank and low behind, and rear pillion seat pushed forward[/url]

I wasn't aware that the pillion seat could be moved forward/rearward... How?

+1 on above, you have 2 holes so take your pick, push it all the way back and then press down, or pull it forward and then press down, have a look under pillion seat you have 2 holes.

Ref fitting the lowering foot pegs. Do you need to make any adjustments to the gear and rear brake levers?

Mark

I did not but it is a personal preference, the little knobbly bit on the center stand is higher, and also the sidestand, but does not give any problems, as to gears and brakes depends on how you put your feet on the pegs, I have big feet 47 and no problems, but I do tend to have my feet sprayed out a little donald duck style, but that is my riding style.

Peg is on lowest setting

Thanks for that... only bike I've ever had issues with, but will look at those... not quite a style icon, but if it works :) its like I have a bonny bum or something (but I don't)... strange one... I actualy had a Gel pad removed from my HD as I didn't like it... last 2010 GS was fine... done thousands of miles on the old RS... not a problem... I'm thinking its the angle I'm sat... may also be worth risers on the bars or pushing them back a bit??
