Seat positions and knees

For anyone wanting a bit more adjustment of the riders seat are you aware that you can swap over the front adjusting plate (part with the two rubber bobbins fitted ) for the part from a R1200rt lc model, it allows you to set it up with a flatter seat profile (raises the nose and brings it slightly backwards) or lower the nose of the seat and pushes it forward .

Between the two brackets it gives a much greater amount of adjustability.

Mine cost £10 off that site

I have found front of rider seat on high, rear on low, plus passenger seat in forward position gives me a fairly comfy position, especially combined with the BMW Exclusive seats. For me, the final piece of the total comfort puzzle has been fitting some up and back bar risers.

Exactly what I have now Fred, and Neil cheers for that info I did not know about, might be worth a punt

Ref fitting the lowering foot pegs. Do you need to make any adjustments to the gear and rear brake levers?

Mark

Strangely when I fitted them to the 2015 bike I did have to adjust the gear selector (it had previously been adjusted also when the bike was new as my boot was catching) but nothing needed adjusting for me on the 2018 bike when they were fitted.
Like it was said previously some people find their boots catch the stand bobbin. I have size 45 Daytona boots and have had no issue and I don’t splay my feet.

Just tried this and it work well... no bone pain in the old rear end... strange as it's not the way to go to take pressure off, you'd think it would put more on.. but works fine :)

does feel a bit more sporty / controlled also.. made me go faster for sure ;)

Hill top next :)

I've always had the riders seat high front and low rear on a 2008, 2009, and 2016 GSs. Due to a coxic problem.

Must say the rear seat goes back on in any position (fwd/rear) and I find both positions comfortable.

Just getting my head around this the RT one can lift the seat at the Front higher than the GSa one if thats the case where did you order the plate from for £10,Cheers

Looks to me like the GS one have more movement as the throw is greater?.. RT one will move it less?

Well just gone back to High and High position on rider seat and still pushed forward at the rear, I found if I had the front seat lower at the rear, I lost the knee bend comfort I was looking for in the lowering pegs, I complicate myself sometimes, but main gain is we have found out other things about our bike..........:beerjug:

I like it as is.. I was on hi-hi.. and it made the top of my leg bones . hip area hurt.. think this is better.. and it appears to handle better?????... no idea why, unless its being that tad lower?
they are not the best seats for all that padding.. on my old 1978 RS.. it had about 1/2" of foam.. but you could ride that all day??..

Seat on the Exclusive is like a coach

its strange what makes one seat ok, and another hard, or not right... HD seats are worst... look like yards of padding, but can be very naff to ride distance on...
There is a local bloke in Huddersfield does cracking re-models of seats.. may buy a spare one of 'that site' and let him have a go.. did my old Banditt and totalt transformed it :)
