Just a heads up for the guys that have just recovered a couple of seats for me. I said I'd give them a mention on here as they've done some absolutely stunning quality work!
(I can only show one of the seats as the owner of the other one is a member here and he's not seen it yet)

They're Hoods County Customs in Rochford just outside Southend. They do high end sports cars, vintage cars, customs, hoods and bike seats.

I usually deal with Simon - 01702 547999.

I cannot praise their work highly enough. :bow

Quality work. That's good to know. Saved to favourites.
I've had many seats recovered over the years and have not found anyone in the UK that does what is asked or they make it look ok but is uncomfortable. They all seem to want to use that God awful basket weave shite as well. Last few bikes I've ended up paying stupid money for the likes of Corbin and the like because they at least make some effort with the comfort side of things.

I kind of gave Simon free reign over how he did it, he showed me the carbon fibre material (which is actually 100% leather) and I liked the look of it. In all honesty he's the opposite of generic, the type of guy that'll suggest something that you didn't realise was possible.

I would be interested know how you get on with it in terms of comfort if you could. :thumb2

It's an un modified KTM Gel Ergo underneath the new cover which I always found to be quite comfy, however there is now a small extra layer of padding where the cover is slightly 'quilted' in the centre under the suede. I've not had a chance to get out on it yet but I'll report back when I have :thumb

Very nice but someone's in for a damp bum :D

You do make a good point, I have however waterproofed it with super guard so any standing water will just bead up and brush off before I sit on it .....................

................. who am I trying to kid ....... I'm gonna get a damp bum :D

you're not going to take your bike out IN THE RAIN, are you?

I might take her out in slightly damp conditions on occasion ............ :D

Well I can report having done a 320 mile trip with the new seat that it's absolutely lovely, very comfortable, nice and warm and very secure, by that I mean you don't slide about on it. SWMBO will be delighted when she get's on the back as she does seem to have to shuffle about. I think those days are over.

As for resilience to the rain - I parked it up for 45 minutes in the pouring rain (while I was in the Café) when I came out I wiped it over with mu bar towel (just like I would have done my old vinyl seat) and it was 98% totally dry, certainly not enough to notice if wearing anything other than ....... erm ........ Chinos:D

I leant the bike to a friend who took it into the Smoke and back and he proactively commented on how comfortable it was - un prompted.

Here's another on the Boxer GS LC that I finished recently

That is very neat and reasonable cost. You are very brave going with the suede.

I was going to try and recover and reshape the seat on my K1200S but couldn't find a stapler that was man enough to punch stainless staples into the plastic base. Picked up a Sargent seat off ebay in the end.

Mr. T that is one of the best looking 950's I have ever seen and if I didn't have the 1190 I would want one even more than I used to, a credit to you.

Cheers fella. It's fair to say I do bloody love it! It's the best bike I've ever owned.
