on 2011 bike how close is the heating element on the standard seat to the top of the foam I'm wanting to lower the seat but not wanting to pay the price of seat upholstery yet

The seat has a shaped area at the top for the element and they a thin layer of foam covers it all.

May I suggest you pay Mr Tony Archer of 'Uddersfield, and he may well work out cheaper than you think (unless you are thinking £2.50 of course).

had a word with Tony before Xmas and me hitting the credit card for presents got the bill back so want to try just shaving the seat first

I took one apart a few years ago, are you planning to use an electric knife?

The seat element took a bit of getting apart as it was glued to the thin foam covering, which didn't survive. The element can be removed and then the seat trimmed, and then a covering re-applied.

Having purchased foam and glue myself for an earlier project, I wish I'd just got that one done by Tony as to be honest, the wasn't much in it.

My 2104 has been retriimmd by him and it's very comfy, he even reprofiled the seat for me.

thanks wobble took the seat apart this weekend after spending £2.50 on stainless staples whipped the foam of the seat pan and took about 40mm from the underneath took about a hour all in seat looks standard so happy see if it's any better when riding when we get good weather
