I'm trying to reconnect the rear wiring loom to the rear lights, but i've hit a minor snag.

I can't get the f***ing seat off!!:tears:tears

The key moves in the lock fine, and the seat has plenty of movement. It doesn't feel as though the seat is binding against the catch, because if you try and lift the back of the seat, and then turn the key, there is no extra resistance felt on the key.....if this makes sense?

tried just about everything i can think of, and not really feeling like i'm making any headway.

Anyone else had this kind of aggrovation? if so how did you cure it?

I've got until monday night to get this wiring sorted, along with the swing arm bearings fitted (which i still don't have all the bits for ) and the tyres on (already wrecked one tube fitting the new rear), before i get on the ferry to france with it for 3 weeks....

Turn the key and whack down as hard as you're comfortable doing with your hand over or near the engaging mechanism.
Has worked for me in the past and I've seen it work for others. :nenau
Worth a try at least.

whacking is good,
however I tried to go in from below the seat.
another '2 cents' regaring the wiring loom fixing.
The tail lock rust shut too.
no amount of tugging on the wire loop will release it.
removed as many bolts from the tail as possible.
removed the lock bolts with a flexible drive.
a bit fiddly, this is how I got it sorted.

good day best regards Josey

Thanks for the feedback. the original fender extender has been removed (and yes the latch did seize up!), and has been replaced with an R+G item.

I'll try the wack treatment tonight.

Seat removed and cause identified!!

Thanks for the advice guys.

I finaly got the seat off with the help of a friend and a tyre lever for "encouragement":augie

Now it looks like the cause was down to accumulated mud in the mechanism, which stops the catch from opening fully and releasing the seat.

I've since stripped it and cleaned it, and re-assembled. It doesn't take anymore than 1o minutes.

This would be worth checking/servicing even if you don't have any grief from it. :rob

I'll post photo's later once i've uploaded them.

bizarrely mine jammed up at the weekend, fortunately had only rested the seat on the bike whilst doing something else so had access to the catch to release the seat. for me the problem was the cable being full of crud, flushed it through and now all is well
