Fitting the risers

Is there any way of fitting the risers to the back fittings which does not involve removing the tool tray and associated bodywork? As you can see from Cecilthecat's pics, the rear bolts for the rear fixings are obscured by the tool tray and surroundings.

How does the front of the seat butt up against the tank ? I tried a similar solution on my 1100 a few years back with just washers and I found the shape was wrong and it left quite a gap on the leading edge of the saddle allowing water into the battery compartment and electrics so I opted for slightly lower pegs instead.
I am a riding god of course, but have yet been able to scrape them despite riding with my elbows and knees ground into the tarmac on every roundabout
