R1200GS Recalls

To the best of my knowledge, there have been 2 recall notices on R1200GS bikes.

Recall #1 - Defect code 163300
----------------------------------
This was issued by BMW to the dealer network in Feb 2005. This relates to the fuel pump issue. This is a *critical* fix as has been the cause of a number of breakdowns. Heaven forbid what could happen if this problem manifested itself mid-overtake... Why oh why BMW dont impress the urgency of this is beyond belief.

Recall #2 - Defect code 61250000
---------------------------------------
This was issued by BMW to the dealer network in Dec 2005. This is a "general vehicle order update" and is nothing more than a software update.

Advice to all GS riders
------------------------
Phone up BMW Customer Services and check that both have been done on your bike. If they haven't, and your bike has been serviced after the issue of the recalls, time to get *heavy* with your dealer. I get the impression that the competence of some of the dealers to schedule in defect rectification with servicing automatically leaves a lot to be desired (no names mentioned !).

BMW Recall Notices
---------------------
As for the BMW recall notices...what the feck is the point of those. They dont tell you anything, no sense of criticality or urgency, and to cap it all, some of it is in German !!! Doh!

PS - Nice bike though...
