I don't know why people rave about them!! Good on the open road though to be fair

because people think they are buying into a culture, just as those do who go through a mid life crisis/bored of life/job/wife etc you get the drift,few years ago they bought into the harley image.

i would say that a lot of people here have very little experience on any other bike, passing their test in the past few yrs, never did time on the 50cc/100cc/125cc/250cc ranges through life

there you go. they are not great bikes we have, thats the truth, but what they do do, is very good compared to other bikes of similar type.

if your comparing it to a sportsbike/cruiser/old bike, your right about your statement, if not

I don't need advice, i have had 25 bikes in my time on the road. I drive for a living, i've done posssibly 2 million kilometres on various vehicles so please don't judge me. Well you can if you like, cause i don't give a hoot.
30 years experience on bikes. I know what i know and i like what i like, the Gs1100 is highly overated period

you havnt offended me at all, if you read my reply to you, i did not aim it at you, but generalised for all those who buys GS's and dont like them.

you gave yours 500miles and didnt like it, fair play, again if you read what i wrote, i said that the GS's are not the best bikes...

good to see honesty, that you dont like em, and say so

its refreshing to see, rather than the 'oh i just cant wait' 'bestest bike ever' 'best bike i have owned, all 2 of them'

i find it funny that folk chuck 13 grand at a bike they only know about cos of the telly or they want the lifestyle

3 months later it up for sale ere or fle bay 3 grand lighter

I like mine - ride it almost everyday and put more miles on this 1200GS than I have ever done with any other bike - given limitless funds I cant think of a bike I'd rather have.

P.S. I didn't buy it cos it was on the telly either!

I had an 1150 , but being a lightweight shortarse found I didn't like the lack of weather protection , and it was especially noticable on the motorway .
It's a great all rounder though , for everyday use , in my opinion .

I've now got an RT [had a 1200 , now got an 1100 ] - same lumpy boxer engine , but better weather protection , and plenty fast enough for the likes of me .

Each to their own , hope you find what you are looking for .

Lots of things in life I don't like & mostly keep them to myself unless prompted!!! If I make an expensive total cack of choice I definitely keep it to myself.

I did, and i havent. still sometimes you have to try something new to find out you dont like it (hunting chocolate starfishes the exception) when i first got my GS i wasnt sure,but a few hours later i was.Going back to a big Japanesse sport tourer was a mistake,and may prove to be an expensive one at that.But if i manage to sell,then under the bike cover in the garage there will defo be another GSA,and it may not hit 160mph but it will defo put a bigger smile on my mooie then there is now............

Its an awesome bike lee,i cant put my finger on it,it just does everything perfect,maybe a bit bland i miss the quirkyness of my GS,lol maybe its an age thing and i know the stone throwers will say shiiiiit you havent had it five minutes how can you know? but im not feeling the love for this beast....
