My R80 G/S seems to like to sometimes drop its left float bowl. Not an everyday thing mind you, its happened three times in five years. Once in the garage. Once just outside the garage. Slightly damp foot and some cussing while fetching and reinstalling being the only consequences (well, that and a lingering smell of petrol in the garage).
Today, however, the bowl went airborne while doing 70 on a motorway in rush hour traffic. Said bowl is gone, baby. Gone!
While some more cussing and a roll of tape did get me both to work and home again (cold start on one cylinder, gotta love that
), I'd much prefer to not, ever, lose one of these again.
I'm thinking small drill and steel wire. Might still come loose, but shouldn't get lost. Is what I usually do with bolts that tend to vibrate off.
However, my thinking has been flawed before, so
1. Is there a better way to secure those things? Something tested and true perhaps?
2. If not, are there any fatal flaws in my reasoning?
Yes. I did search. With no luck.
Thanks in advance, btw.
