Not entirely model specific but

What do you use to stop your F800/650 disappearing? (when mine arrives i don't want it to)

Did lots of searching and found vids of the same people selling there chain by cutting up other people, is this just hype? What about disk locks, or a combination of both? And sort of on that topic, is worth using a cover when out and about, what size fits the 800?

Cheers

no its not hype.......

doesnt matter what you use to lock it, if the chain is not secured to something then any spooty oik with a skateboard will simply wheel the bike away.

Ultimately All you are doing is detering the low life, how much you spend moves you up the scale of how "skilled/professional" the tealeaf is and that is also driven by what is being stolen. Disk locks etc are for the casual schum, chains the same if not tied to something more solid , note "cheap" chains are merely garnish so get a good one like almax if your serious and something good to chain it too (whilst at its main parking spot) . When you out and about your less likely to be targeted except if you regularly park somewhere. Years ago a mate had his bike pinched from work in a locked compound as they took a chain fence panel out to get it , no idea why as it was a crappy GPZ600, think they did him a favour :p, but it wasnt chained up as he assumed it was safe.
PS you can get totally paranoid but then you'l never want to leave it anywhere which defeats the purpose og having it in the 1st place and thats what insurance is for.
PPS
I have no time for alarms on bikes as they are too easily ignored and once in the back of a van silenced. You may as well have a siren disk lock as it saves on wiring /battery grief and alerts if bike is disturbed (at home or when in YOUR earshot as others will ignore it on the most part)

Remember you don't need the best lock money can buy.. just better than the other bikes parked up so they take someone elses not yours!

It sounds selfish but thats the way it really is... a professional will have your bike if they want it. An amateur will look for the easiest one to take....

I keep a security guard midget in a top box... wired in a snorkel to ensure he's alive when we get to the destination.

I like the idea of a guard midget, but can see problems if they breed!

when i'm out and about my eyes :thumb2

at home in a locked garage steel roller door, steering lock on and vans and cars in front of the garage, in the house two dogs and an angry wife except on monday shes happy then its shopping day :thumb2

The Almax are the best chains out there! They are the nuts, unlike the others which make claims that are just bollocks frankly. Used in combination with a Hardie Ground Anchor and a Squire Lock your bike is virtually theft proof! The scumbag(s) will need power tools to get through this bad boy!

Almax Series III has never been bolt cropped by ANYONE EVER!

I have the Immobilser III chain, Squire SS65CS Stonghold Lock and the Hardie Ground Anchor as outlined above. I have ZERO buyer remorse and cannot reccomned them highly enough. I even got a small Kriega bag thrown for free, which that attaches to the seat and holds my chain and lock when I do take it out. :thumb2

Cost for the package £210-240 depending on chain length. This is the ONLY physical security you'll need... Here's a video of a lorry hanging by the Hardie Ground Anchor!

Don't waste good money on shite, get the best. These are cheaper then the big name brands which pale into insignificance compared to Almax!

xXx

Thanks for the info. I can't get to the Almax web site at the moment. Can anyone else?
