Advice on two issues please: Ordered my 2010 GSA with HID for both headlamp and main beam. Think ordering the HID for the main beam was probably a dim idea on my part as makes no difference to range or spread at night. On unfamiliar roads would be better off with a decent torch and some tape! First job for 2012 is to change main beam back to a conventional bulb. What is the best bulb for the job? Looks like either Phillips X-treme or Osram Night Breaker Plus??
My OE Tourance EXP's will soon need replacing. Was planning to replace with a road tyre - probably Road Pilot 3. However, a sudden unplanned excersion off road into the rough and water filled gully re focused mind and backside so will be sticking with a semi road tyre. All things considered, have been impressed with the EXP's, the rear is now squared off (6,300 miles all two up plus luggage and no real problems). So before I purchase another pair, is there any news on an improved EXP in the near future or BattleWing - as these are my tyre choices? Thank you.
Festive Regards & Happy New Year!

tyres

i like the phillips extreme bulbs and as for the tyres if ya was happy with the tourances then get another pair . i run them tyres and lovethem . and as your an essex boy why not meet up for a cuppa on a sunday morning fella . i cant pm you cos youaint a subscribed member . its worth the 12 quid mate lol

I'm a bit confused GSA_Jon with you saying HID on headlamp and main beam.
I take it you mean dip and main beam?
If you have got HID you can't just take out that lamp and put in a normal bulb. Summat sounds wrong if you reckon the light's bad!

I have not got the hids on the current head light, BUT there is summat not right with what you are doing as on either the main, or the dip beam my hid,s put out some SERIOUS light output
You could have a chinwag with Les Wassal of this parish he will get you sorted out:thumb2

Hi les fitted a LED to my side light and HID to dip, main , and fogs serious lumens wouldnt go back to halogen. :thumb:thumb2

I used to have 50w HID's in both dipped and main beam but have taken the main beam back to Halogen with a Philips Xtreme bulb. Like you I couldn't tell if the main beam was on either way as the HID on dipped beam is so much brighter anyway. Instead I have HID conversions on a pair of Hella FF50 spots which do so much better than the OEM main beam. It's fairly easy to revert back apart from the headlamp cap which you will need to replace with one without a hole in it. If you take the rear cap off you will find the original H7 connector which is used to connect to the HID bulb. Disconnect this and use with your choice of H7 halogen bulb in the normal manner. Will take 5 minutes and keep the HID bulb and ballast for spares.

Try adjusting the light beam throw, by twiddling the up/down and left/right knobs. This may help light up the road better for you.
