WELL THEY LIE , I had an off on monday, cattle feed spead right accross the road, like riding on ice, damage to right handside rocker cover, mirror, footpegs, top box oh and the front indicator, this was totally not my fault, the road was not lit and the feed was on the exit of the bend, I was not speeding or doing anything illegal, I am now left battered and bruised, with a damaged bike, a £600 excess and no chance of finding out who left the rubbish on the road, not happy, oh and I had to cancel my bike trip to the Black Forrest, still GS crashed well, managed to ride it home. Pissed off or what.

Sorry just needed a rant:forry

REPORT IT NOW!

Go back with a camera. Record the scene and try and show some of the feed that caused the problem. Even pick some of the stuff up. Any evidence you can gather...gather it!

Report it to the Police saying that another motorist has clearly dropped this all over the road. If they say you should have reported it within 24hrs say you were too unwell. Get an incident number. Get the name and/or number of who you speak to. Going into a nick helps as getting fobbed off over the phone is a distinct possibility. They 'may' say that as it's a single vehicle incident and only you injured you cannot report anything. INSIST that the cause was another vehicle with an insecure load.

Report it to the highways department, again names are important. Tell them they need to get out there and clean it up!

Get you injuries recorded (Very important) and damage to clothing. Photos, go to the doctor etc.

You CAN make a claim for this. The motor insurance bureau let you claim for personal injury and your kit against the untraced driver. (They will not pay for damage to the bike) Not a very quick payout but it will soften the blow.

A percentage of every insurance policy goes to fund this, you have a genuine claim.

Worth a try. I did this years ago when rear ended and the other guy disappeared....... The eventual payout was enough for a new bike:thumb

Great post and excellent advice. Dont be shy reporting mud on the road to the police either and dont accept "It's not a police matter" as a response. Ask to speak to one of the motorcycle cops - usually gets a favourable response.
