Attempted to do an oil change today on the bike and one of the nuts is seized on the threaded bar/bolt. I try twisting it and the bar turns slightly. Afraid to try too hard in case it snaps.

Any advice on how to get it off? Reckon it's been on at least 3 years and I only got the bike recently.

I think you are referring to the 4 bolts holding the skid plate on...? If so , they are actually not a solid bolt but rather a bolt into the sump then a rubber lug and a thread to the skid plate which has the nut on that you see.

If you have tried WD40 and the like then there isn't much you can do except twist it off - you'll tear the rubber part leaving the remainder in the frame. Get a good set of pliars onto that and twist it out and just replace it with a new one. For future ease, use a bit of copper slip on the nuts and you won't have the problem again.

Have a look here you'll see what I mean. Scroll down to see the bash plate and the bit I am talking about is part number 11 11 1 340 864

Something like that I reckon - they aren't expensive so no point breaking into a sweat if they break. Just keep a couple in the box of bits in the shed :thumb2
