Self servicing

They've seen the bike regularly and have stated THEY WOULD have it back in Part Exchange

But probably at a lower price than if it had a full BMW history as it couldn't be re-sold as an approved bike with a BMW two year warranty?

As is the previous version with the "analogue" screen, the TFT hasn't really changed all that much in regards to the bike being software driven

I wasn't even thinking of the TFT screen - and you at right, it adds very little in the big picture of the all the electronics and software / firmware In operation on the GS.

They've become more and more since the LC was launched - things like ABS pro for example - the lean sensitive braking - which also has an input to the traction control - they've got more and more complex as the model has evolved.

Tbh I’m already doing the servicing. I’ve a very good relationship with my dealer, buying the OEM parts for the servicing from them. Being aware of my professional resources they remain very supportive on warranty issues knowing that the bike has been properly serviced. I’d still use them for any significant software upgrades/recalls tho

Rarely I do make sense lol but yeah it works for me and naturally if you ever wanted diagnostics or service management just a small token of wine would do :)

They're raping you all anyways on trade in prices. Who you trying to kid :D

I don't know if BMW UK have changed their position, but they used only to require BMW parts used to honour their warranty.
My bike (2014) has never had a dealer service, but there was no issue then they agreed to warranty replace the quick shift and corroded final drive.

DIY servicing is easy with the possible exception of if the valves feed adjustment (checking is easy), fortunately at 40k miles, mine are still in tolerance. I don't see the 1250 is that different?

Cheers Mark, that is really kind will send you a PM will always be useful, I spent many years in Corsica but not riding a GS, so will be going more to visit a few mates than touring, do not plan on riding to much as the wine levels will probably be to high, might even just fly in and hire a noddy car...........:thumb2:thumb2
