As requested - here is my initial review of the 10U for the Schuberth C3 pro:

Well packed & high quality components lead to an easy and hassle free install.
Took me about 10 mins from start to finish.

The FIRST thing that i noticed were the heavy duty speakers. They are a perfect fit and don´t disturb the ears when in place. The same goes for the SENA battery that sits under the neck roll. It looks like it won´t fit - however it does (and does not interfere with the comfort of the helmet).
In this respect, the SENA and SRC are on par when it comes to fit and comfort.
HOWEVER, I rate the SENA higher as it is completely invisible AND the microphone on the sena is totally out of the way.

Comms microphone(s) always disturb me which is why i like the UCLEAR HBC100. However that system lacks many features, including radio. So its been resigned to the closet :rob

Charging/updating is easy on the SENA as access to the USB port is unobstructed.

The SENA joystick seems like a bit of a novelty to me, as i am used to fingering :D the actual unit, not a remote. But with time maybe this will change. However all operations can be executed via the 2 buttons on the unit itself, so the remote is not required.
Pairing was immediate and the sound is fantastic. As with all helmet speakers, the centre should be opposite the ear opening and quite close. This gives super clear sound and great bass.

I have yet to go out for a ride, but i will post another review once i do.
Radio reception is important to me (which was bad-to-ok on the SRC). So i will definitely be testing that.
The 10U has its own antenna, which slots into the inside of the helmet. Shame, as the C3 pro has pre-wiring for a totally built-in antenna (i.e the helmet IS the antenna...)

Pairing to the NAV V was also easy. Now the SENA (with remote), Iphone 6 and NAV V are all working in harmony.

So far I rate this as a very high qualilty product, worth the 210GBP and perfectly engineered for the C3.
I have been a Cardo fan for many years, but i think its time to move to SENA!!

Any questions....fire away! :rocketwho

I've got the Sena SMH20s, which I like. I use in ear monitors.

Has your unit got a 3.5mm ear phone socket ?

And is there the facility to detach the speakers and not fit them ?

Ta.

Hi.
There is no AUX input & the speakers are not interchangeable with "in ear" type (or any other type).
Those are both features you can find, however on the SRC from Schuberth.

Thanks for the reply................. I think I'll stick with my Sena, as it's very good...... IMHO.

Thanks for the review. :thumb2

What was the sequence in which you paired the above three - Sena, Iphone and Nav?
Also if you put a BTM02 into the mix, any idea how that will work?

Eisen,

I just ordered mine and should be here tomorrow. I had the SRC but after both the collar pins broke and then it stopped pairing with my wifes SRC I decided to try the Sena and sell the SRC. I see that you can still pair to one non-sena BT unit, so I am hoping it will pair to my wifes SRC!

One question, I noticed on your photo that you have up/back risers. Did you relocate the cable tie or leave it as is? I didn't feel that mine needed to be moved/replaced/relocated?

Yup , they broke on mine too! Despite caring for it with gentleness!

Hey you did well to pair the flipping SRC thing with anything. I couldn't get it to pair with friends, I thought it would only pair with my iPhone, GPS. My error ? Despite having the built in antenna, FM radio sucks.

I really doubt your wife's SRC will pair with a SENA.

Eisen 77...many thanks , useful review. (I was shocked to see such a product for the C3Pro, I thought I was "stuck" with the crapppy SRC , so this has interested me !)

Biggest drawback with the C3pro (imho) is that water gets in around the visor btw. Oh and there isn't any room in the chin area for your chin AND the microphone. I wonder if the Sena needs a mic to fit in there ?

I paired SENA TO IPHONE, then NAV V to SENA.
That's not necessarily the correct sequence as the NAV V doesn't become the HUB in a star formation, but it works for me as its a stable set up & GPS instructions are routed perfectly to the headset.

Up and back risers are amazing. Didn't need to extend or move any cables.
I THINK that I may have released one cable tie to loosen things up a bit, but I can't remember as its been over a year since I did it.
But definitely didn't have to modify anything major...

Not sure about the BTM02.
I'll do some research online later on and try to help you with that one!
The last autocom system I owned was back in 2008, so I'm slightly out of touch with their systems now...

Eisen,

The Sena 10u arrived and I have fitted it. Installation was nice and easy and the sound is so much better than the SRC. I did manage to get it to pair with my wifes SRC but, after much grief and reading of the Sena forums, I discovered that you need to have the SRC paired in 'pair a mobile phone' mode' and then it works fine with the Sena. If you want to start the intercom then I found that if you pressed the intercom button on the SRC it would start the intercom on both the SRC and Sena. My only problem now is that when either unit is switched off it doesn't automatically re-pair when switched back on?

Currently I think I will just purchase another 10u for my wife and sell both of the SRC units.

I received my new C3 Pro today and decided not to transfer my Sena SMH10 to the new helmet. Thus I ordered a 10U as well.

Have any of you guys got experience with modifying "antennas" and their connection wiring, I am wondering whether one can cut the Sena antenna wiring and connect it to the Schuberth C3 Pro built in antenna?

Interesting! Exactly the same thought had been going through my mind!

Given that Sena has modified each of these headsets to suit particular helmets I don't understand why they didn't do this in the first place?

Honestly, the 10U antenna is tucked away so well that its impossible to know its even there.
Maybe the C3pro/SRC built-in antenna have inherent flaws that adversely affect the signal?
All i can say is - the 10U´s signal is GREAT and i´d take it any day over the SRC.
Personally, i would not start splicing & welding - especially when the 10U antenna is so flat/hidden AND gives perfect reception...

And on a similar subject ... what would be the viability of breaking in to the 10U speaker wiring to enable in-ear monitors to be used, possibly in parallel with the existing speakers?

Still contemplating the jump from Autocom but quite honestly if it means having a giant cockroach on the side of my helmet I'd rather stick with a wired solution, plus the quality of sound in my Autocom SPA install will take some beating.

.......

If you replace the original Sena helmet speakers with in ear units you will have to make sure that the new in ear speakers have the same impedance as that of the original Sena speakers.

If the in ear speaker impedance is lower than the original Sena units, you will overwork the amplifier section of the Sena circuit board (especially if you use high volumes) and damage will result. If the in ear speaker impedance is higher than the original Sena units the achievable decibel levels will be lower.

You will also end up with the same problem if you try to connect two sets of speaker in parallel e.g. use the originals and in ear units together in parallel as the impedance is going to be different from the original.
