Well after my SRC decided to start playing up I decided time for a new headset.
Got a nice shiney SMH10R to try.

It arrived all nice and shiney in the box but as I use in ear monitor earplugs I also ordered some conversion plugs from the USA as they are not available in Europe. Still waiting for them to arrive.

All fitted to my C3 and I decided to do some work by putting on a 3.5 mm female plug in place of the speakers so I could use my monitors.

Used for the first time today with the BMW Nav IV and have to say the sound is much better quality. Switches on and ready for use in seconds easy to use and scroll through music. Also has a neat little function where you can mute the volume rather then just turn it down.

One thing I did find though is that if you are playing music from your nav IV then you need to turn on the headset first then the nav or it doesn't recognicse the sena as a A2DP headset.

Thanks for posting this. I have been umming and ahhhing about taking the plunge and the SMH10R is the one I would be interested in. A couple of questions:

a) where did you mount the battery? On the outside at the back of your helmet? Or did you find somewhere to hide it inside the shell?

b) Like you, I prefer monitor earplugs. How will/have you connected the earplugs to the Sena? What parts do you need and can you spell out what I would need to get.

c) Where did you get it? Was it a good price?

Thanks in advance.

Mounted at the back of the helmet on the outside.

Had the part fom my SRC when tgat was converted. You can either purchase the part from maplin and do some soldering or Ultimate Ears can do the conversion for £45.

Was going to get it from Adventure bike warehouse but was out of stock with nothing expected in for poss 2 weeks. Bought from fc-moto but speak to Adventure bike warehouse if you are not in a rush. Needed mine urgently otherwise would have got from them.

Thanks in advance.

You can now buy the Sena part online (the one to use so that you can connect the 3.5mm jack from a pair of earplugs to the headset in lieu of the speakers. It was 6 Euro plus tax plus delivery here in Germany

I'm in the process of returning mine, as it's crackling like hell, it also goes on and off from side to side. I think its the contacts and pins that is the problem.

Anyhow I've been in touch with Sena as the unit is 18 months old, and they say to return it via the authorised dealer where I bought it.

I emailed the company for a returns label/number, they reply by saying it's out of warranty so cannot do anything for me, but they can sell me another unit :eek

Thats what they think, so I mailed them back saying if they won't do anything (as it has a 2 year warranty) I will inform Sena direct of their actions re customer service. I await their reply :)

That's a terrible attitude from a supplier Busy.... maybe it's time to name and shame these jokers!
