Hi all

I know there is an Android app, with which you can send an SMS for free, if you are connected to a WiFi network.

I presume something similar exists for Apple iPads (specifically iPad4). Any recommendations?

If you're messaging other IOS users - iphone or pad, (mac as well for that matter), imessage uses tinternet instead of your call/text allowance..

There's apps like viber and whatsapp that do the job as well I reckon

Thanks. The desired SMSs would be to bog standard phones (Android, Nokia, etc. and not restricted to Apple devices).

I don't have an allowance for SMS, but can't be bothered with SMS on a crippled phone keyboard, but some people insist on sending me SMS messages :blast. Was also wanting the ability to send free SMSs using WiFi from my iPad when in foreign lands, etc.

I'm sure I've read about an app that converts emails to text & vice versa. Try searching on google.

You can use the iPhone version on an iPad though... Just gives you same size screen as phone would..

If it's usable - use it...

But it means all your contacts have to use it too...

I've tried installing it via iTunes and I get a warning message saying the app isn't compatible with the iPad. How did you instal it?
