Separating headlights an instruments

Don't jump in and hate me straight away :-(
My bike I not at my house at the moment, it's at a friends with the Haynes manual. So can't work this out for myself at the moment.

What I would like to know is how to separate the clocks from the lights. I assume it's no more complicated than removing a couple of screws. Am I right?
(Therefor asking an obvious question worthy of berating!)

It's even easier than that. You pop a miniature circlip (or is it two...?) and pull the clocks off which is why they're so easily stolen when folks leave their bikes parked up in the centre of that London*.
