A question for Sept 2002GS 1150 owners, how many have experienced an oil leak from either the gearbox input shaft seal or the Engine crankshaft oil seal.

This is evidenced by a trace of oil coming from the clutch housing on the right hand side, and or the left side as well, there is no oil in the clutch housing itself so it can only come from engine or gearbox.

It seems there is a problem with Sept 2002 1150's at around the 27,000 miles mark with the oilseals and to fix it means stripping the bike back to the clutch housing to replace the £10 oil seal.

Any one have any experience ???

but you don't know if it's the gearbox or engine that's leaking? there's a problem with both seals?

nope, fraid not.

just seemed odd in that it could be the gearbox or the crank seal & was interested.

Jimb, there was something on ADVRIDER about this. Some thought it was an over-greased part within the housing that was 'sweating' oil or something, but it turned out to be a seal leak. If you do a search you should find it. Lots of pics of the leak. Good luck.

Many thanks

Big Lad, great stuff just what I was looking for, many Thanks.
