Hi Karl,
With out me sounding like a know it all twat, I will give you my advice on camping gear from my own experience, spend money on decent gear to begin with, it will make camping much more comfortable and you will enjoy it far more, go for lightweight compact. I can highly recommend the following:
Thermarest Prolite 4 (XL) Sleeping Mat
Thermarest Compressible Pillow
MSR DragonFly Stove
Northface Big Fat Frog Tent
Northface Superlight (Down) Sleeping bag
But do a search on here and you will have plenty of idea which is the best stuff to go for
Cheers
Ty

Have just had a look through the past posts of 'who's where & got/wants wot' and we seem to be fairly well covered.
Are we all agreed we're aiming for Black Forrest & into Austria - weather permitting? IMO any further and we'll loose 2 days on Motorways.
IJGser - You seem to be the furthest from the Channel ports can what's the earliest ferry time you can comfortably make?
Ty - IJGser has a 'good sized pan'. Will your one of your light-weight pans cope with the rice/pasta/spuds for 4 growing lads? or do we need another larger pan?
I've now also got a small & a 3/4" drive star/torx sets, a long 3/4" bar & puncture kit (gas cannisters) to ad to the party.
With the exception of our own personal & camping stuff - can any of you guys think of anything else we need?
) I like to start early in my day to day life anyway. If all else failles ill stop in a dreaded travel lodge.
should be fun and failing that different
only joking if you all cum up with a mutual meeting place down your way ill come to that weekday nights is easy est for me.
