September 19th - 26th, Europe Camping for a week who's up for it

Yes - two more peeps who would like to join en-route, but not for the UK leg.

We live in Germany, near Ulm. I saw on an earlier post that you might be taking in the Austrian Alps. Our house is in Biberach an der Riss, this is on the route between the Black Forest and Austria, so it might be convenient to stay for the night before riding down to the Austrian alps. we can provide beds for 5 people.

Both my Wife (Bmw 800) and me (KTM990) know some good routes in the area and would be able to join you (camping) for four or five days between the 21st and 26th

I have a chance to join your trip if there is still a place, the opportunity of time off only came up yesterday. I know this is late notice and not sure how you would all feel with me joining at the last moment but it sounds like a great trip. I live in Oxford let me know if your up for it. Richard.

Welcome aboard Richard

I cant see any prob with you joining us, as long as our dates and plans suit you. When we met up we did discuss leaving bookings (tunnel/ferry) untill weather reports closer to the date as route plans may change.

Hope to see ya soon

Ian

Hi Mate,

I don't mean to be rude :hide but the original post is a blokes trip, sorry. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195783

As yet we have not 100% decided or booked ferry crossing as we are going to follow good weather and will decide on the route a week before subject to fair weather

Cheers

Hi Richard

Don't see it a problem your welcome to join us, as mentioned we will be booking ferries and cementing plans a week before as no one likes camping in S**t weather :rob, if that's Ok with you welcome aboard :thumb2

Leaving on Sat 19th @ 08:00 - Returning Sat 26th 13:00

Cheers

Thanks for the reply I will get confirmation on Monday from work for the time off. Just wondered how bad the weather has to be for you to change plans. Other than that it sounds a Gas. I need to buy a tent As i only have a 4 man, and service bike this weekend. Will a 1150 gs keep up with a 1200.Can decide what else i should bring on Monday
so we don,t double up Richard.

hello all, still watching the thread with interest. if you don`t mind me saying don`t get too in to who takes what, in my experience if you have the space take what you need to be self sufficient, that way if you do get split up(as was mentioned in 1 of your post) you have the gear to survive be it in europe or elsewhere,if there is extras to make life fun ie music/speakers split it up,hope this dosn`t upset anyone , its not ment to, its also a thought that say 1 cooker is taken and it breaks, doubling up on some things dosn`t matter if you are all one up, it worked for me and a friend awhile back:beerjug:

New comers?

Hi all,

I live in Basingstoke, and I have GS 650 2008 ( 800CC , so I ve been told),
I have come cross you thread and it looks like going to be good fun so I would like to join.
Must admit I new to the touring experience,,, but i have no problem roughing it.
I understand you have been preparing this for some time now so not sure if you still be happy to have new comers and/or smaller bikes.

let me know what you think guys

Cheers

I ve booked the time off the bike is ready, got the thermarest. Cant decide on the tent any advice appreciated . Hope the weather changes.

Great stuff richard.
Jst thinkin if you want to meet up and disscuss plans already made and so you not the only one who ain't met us. I'm closest to you if you in Oxford, also maybe think about getting to the port on the sat. Let me know what you think.
As for tents IMO pitched with fly sheet first and some kind of porch (wet pitcing boots etc) how big and weight is really dependent on budget. Mine was £140 2man can just sit up n weighs less than 2kg.

Regards

Ian
