Serious Fuel Leak

Have noticed traces of leak on drive for a few days and thought it was oil. Strated up this morning and saw fuel gushing from under that black box thing that the goes right through both sides with fuel engine fuel intake tubes attached. Fuel was running right onto cat. Any knowledge out there on what has happened here? How can I fix this?

The connectors in the fuel lines can be suspect I believe, there may even have been a recall on some bikes

Whatever, clean it off the engine casing quickly before it turns a nasty pissy yellow colour

Take it back

This happened on my 02 GS. BMW did a recall, as they recognise that the seal goes on the pipes. It only takes them 10 mins to sort it and it SHOULD be free.

Thanks for your help guys. It was a connection but not the quick release. It was where one of the flexibles joins a rigid pipe. This is a crimped on connection and I thought I was fked. I cut away the cable ties holding the tubes to the frame and pulled and twisted the pipe back slightly then pushed and twisted it back to where it was originally. Leak stopped and I managed to set off for work at 1015.

Had a similar leak but from the fuel pipes on the o/s of bike under that plastic bit below the tank,again it was the two crimped connectors not the quick release ones. i found it safer fitting two new fuel pipe clips, no problems

Update

Thanks for your comments guys. Took gs into dealership where I bought it new two years ago. They informed me that there have been TWO safety recalls for the fuel line problem, one for the quick release and one for the clamped connector ends. Had it attended to under warranty but not good enough really as I could have lost the bike or even been injured trying to get away from it in a hurry. Also garaged within house which might have been worse again. Will pen a letter of concern to BMW about this.
