Sertao Heated grip switch replacement

I have looked thru but cant find any other post on this.

I am looking to change the heated grip switch on my '14 Sertao as it now fails to work after a "competent BMW dealer" serviced the bike!

I have bought the replacement and it looks simple enough to replace by pinching the locktabs underneath and lifting out.

problem 1: Cant depress the locktabs in situ to remove damaged switch.

problem 2: how the hell do I take the surround off to get at the switch.

Its gonna get stripped to solve this but thought I could save some time, maybe, and ask you guys.

Hope you can help or I'll have to cue the A-Team music as I shut the garage door!!

If the bike is a 14 reg,is it not still under warranty?

yes it is. But warranty doesnt cover it, Its an 80 mile round trip and thats if I wait for it to be done, and it was a BMW dealer who had the bike after the last time I used it and now it doesnt work! Lack of confidence Im afraid, (and too old to keep waiting for the thing to be "fixed!").
