Just got back from the service/campaign repair.
I must say,EXCELLANT EXCELLANT EXCELLANT!!!

#247 ring antenna installed for the replacement...so now I supposedly won't have to worry about the EWS horror (my old antenna ring had no faults what so ever in the last 18K miles).

Now for the computer up date opinion.
Bike starts and idles the same just as before. Getting up to speed and acceleration seems to be about the same also,...
but now the engine appears to definately and noticeably feel smoother in the 4000 rpm range.
Yep,before I could always tell when the engine got close to 4000 rpms by the lumpy/vibrations begining around 3800 rpm's. But now after this computer upgrade or whatever they call it,the engine appears much smoother through the rpm range (3800-4800 rpm's) and those funny vibrations don't show their uglyness till you get closer to 5000 rpm's.
So, driving at highway speeds of 75-80 mph the lumpy/vibrations that everyone complains about and that seems to make your little finger go to sleep or numb are much more manageable. Still somewhat there but in my opinion way more tolerable.

To those who have had a bad experience with the computer upgrade,I'd suggest having it redone, and maybe theirs a later or newer version available.

Hopefully this upgrade won't affect gas mileage either!! I'm happy to report an average of 44mpg's + or - 2 miles either way but will recheck now that I have this upgrade.

I've had mine done.........and redone, now it's going back to be done again 'cos it's still crap.

Sorry to hear that....mine took 1 1/2 hours to do. Wish I could help.

Had my bike (2007 GS Adv) serviced (12,000 mile service) yesterday, and have the same experience. Engine pulls much smoother; the vibrations around 4000 are now much less. Bike also runs better between 3 and 4000, before the service it would be very lumpy the closer you got to 3000rpm.

The mechanic told me the valves needed next to no adjusting, and also fuelling was not in need of much work. So the change in engine characteristics could be due to the software upgrade. Also received the new ring antenna BTW

Glad your happy!
Today was the big TEST for the computer up grade.
Did 300 miles in southwest Michigan with a combination of expressway-2 laners and small town speeds. All in all, very HAPPY with these upgrades!

As mentioned earlier by myself and now you...those nasty "finger sleeping" vibrations at 4000rpm's have subsided to a much more manageable or tolerable or however you want to describe it,feel. Bike does feel much more smoother in the 3-4000 range.
Gas consumption will be reported later when I refuel.
But for now, riding at "posted speed limits" with a Goldwing buddy and Harly Cruiser bud, have resulted with 46 mpg's on the last 1/2 of the tank.
But these again are 45-55 mph 2 lane roads. I do blast once in a while but then have to wait for the 'wing and HD to catch up....blah.....

And now a photo for our "Over the Pond Brethern"!!!

That is a view looking west of the Mackinac Bridge in the State of Michigan.
This photo is looking west and taken from Mackinac Island.
More info on that bridge and island at "google' if ya want.

Very nice

What we Brits cannot understand is, why is the sky that colour?, and what is causing those shadows...........?:(

Photoshop ;)

Got my GSA going in for its 600 mile service today - be interesting to see if they change anything or if they think everything's up-to-date .

Let us know how you go.

BMWrich58, you know you could make your millions in the UK if you can bottle up that sky paint and send it over. Looks like a nice idea to paint ours with

Have fun with the Wing and HD

Well, they didn't think the ring antenna needed replacing (not in the releva t range of VINs) but they seem to have upgraded some of software - either the fuel gauge is reading differently or they've put some petrol in. Seems smoother at 4000+ rpm but I didn't get a chance to chat and see if they're remapped it.

If the weather matches the forecast I'm going out for a run tomorrow - see how it goes :) - don't think I'll get skies to match bmwrich58's though:rolleyes:

Hey Andy, you'll like the less vibes at the 4000 range. Definately an improvement you'll feel.

Well men...I'd do all I could if possible....to send some sunshine your way!
Best I can do is invite you across the Pond for a ride or two!:thumb

Tho...in a coupla' few months,...I'll have to Deal with This!!

that's more like it

Glad your bike is running better Andy, did you get that ride today, saw some vague blueness up there today!

Send some of that snow our way as well, may get a few days off work and the chance to get my ski-s out of the attic.

Thanks for the invite too!
