Hi Guys,

Just got a quote of £160 + VAT from a certain Dalkeith based BMW dealer to basically change my engine oil and filter !
They are £77 + VAT an hour for labour !
How can they justify that money ?
Can anyone recommend someone else who I get to carry out this work, stamp the book and turn off that stupid service indicator ?

Regards
Kevin

I'm sure it's got to go on BM's diagnostic machine to turn the service light off. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you otherwise.
There's plenty of places locally who can do the work and no doubt stamp the book but none of them are BMW dealers. Reckon 77 quid an hour is about ball park for a dealer.

The bike has only done around 2800 miles and was only serviced 800 miles ago....Had a bad year so bike has not been out of my garage ! It got all the oils and brake fliud done on the last one ! I would do it myself...But he service light is the problem !!

Stick a bit of tape over it :thumb

£77/hour..? Service lights..? Diagnostic machines..?

'Strewth! I'm so glad I ride 'old nails' :D :thumb2

Get a 911 diagnostic program and connecter. Living 300+ miles and a14 hour ferry trip from a dealer its a must.:rob YOU CAN CHANGE THE SERVICE TIME AND DO ALL THE FAULT FINDING THAT A DEALER CAN.

Independant servicing at. Borders Bikes by Andy Minns and his dad in Duns.
I have been using Andy for years, and other than having my bike serviced have no other connection with him.

I was charged the same for a 600ml service from new. Welcome to the world of BMW was the response when I commented on the cost.

the rest of it didn't seem that out of order, but on my service bill yesterday:

engine oil £60.04 +VAT

fuck me!

Mine goes in for its first service next Thursday, but is also having LED spots, a dark adventure screen and winglets fitted. I haven't told my wife how much it's costing.:D
