Hi,

I've recently got a R1200GS after my F650 Dakar got nicked. I need to take it in for the 24000 mile service. Here is my question , do I need to have the 24000 mile service done and the annaul service or is it included? What is the average cost of the 24000 mile service , I get a different cost from every dealer?

The annual service is supposed to be done when the bike hasn't done enough miles as the services are every 6000 miles or once a year if that mileage isn't covered.

Much will depend on the age of your bike. It may well need brake fluid changes. The intervals on a servo ABS bike are every 2 years for the wheel control circuit and every 4 years for the control circuit. The gearbox oil should be changed after 24000 miles. It will also need the spark plugs changing at 24000.

It would be worthwhile contacting Steptoe for a quote for the service. He is based in SW London and he knows his stuff.
