I was advised to buy the service inclusive pack but I'm wondering if it's worth me doing so as I won't be doing high mileage, probably 4000 miles/year. (The service schedule confuses me, see below.)

I've read conflicting info about when the 12 month and subsequent annual services should be completed, some saying it's 12 months since the running in service and some saying when the bike is 12 months old. Currently my bike is saying service overdue (I've done 624 miles and it's booked in for the running in service in a couple of weeks), but then the next service is 5/6/2025 which is actually roughly 12 months since I collected the bike, and obviously not 12 months after the running in service.

If this is the case then over the 3 year service plan time I'll do the running in service, 12 month service, 24 month/6000 mile service, 36 month/12000 mile service, which I assume is going to be more than the £700 for the service plan. However, if I can't sneak the 3 year/12000 miles service in (if the services are annual after the running in service) then the service plan may work out more expensive than the individual services, this obviously depends on the individual service costs.

Looking at the service schedule in the manual the annual services are a lot more basic than the 6000 mile, 12000 mile etc. It appears that at 12 months the service only includes items 2,3,8 and 12, whereas the 6000 mile service is items 2-10, so I'd assume the 12 month service is cheaper? I've seen people mention the 6000 mile service is circa £300, so would a basic annual service be more similar to the running in service, i.e £180?

Assuming my bike has only done 4000 miles by the 12 month service would I then have to have the bike serviced again at 6000 miles for those items not included in the 12 month service, or will they do all that at the next annual service, i.e the 24 month service? (Strangely the 24 month service only says items 4 and 12, but I'd assume somewhere along the line they'd have to do the items from the 6000 mile service)

I hope this makes sense, if so can anyone clarify what items will be done on what service, whether I'd get the 36 month/12000 miles service in time and what the approx cost of each would be please? (I know this will vary per dealership but a ballpark figure would be helpful)

When you get the 600 service done they’ll reset the service reminder to 12 months.

OK thanks. Do you know if you buy the service plan is it 3 years from the date you buy the plan, or when the bike's 3 years old? I believe it's the former as you can buy the plan ofr used bikes.

To simplify:
Oil and filter every 12 months unless you’ve done more than 6000 miles since the last change
Brake fluid and FD oil every 24 months unless you’ve done more than 12000 miles since the last change
The rest is on mileage not time

Sorry, I don’t know about BMW, but on my wing, which had a service plan, the 3 services had to be done with in 27 months. ( I think )

Thanks, that's where I'm getting confused. If I've done 4000 miles at the first annual service do I then need to have another service in a few months time to fulfill the 6000 mile service? If so is the next one 12 months after that, 12 months after the annual one? :nenau

If you had your first annual service today 17/07/2024 at 4000 miles your next service is due in 12 months from today 17/07/2025 or at 10000 miles (4000 + 6000)
You’ll also want the FD oil and brake fluid changed at th this service as they are every 2 years

Thanks, for some reason I'd read it that the 6000 mile service needed loads of stuff doing hence my confusion where it fits in vs the annual service, but I see now that it's the 12000 mile service that needs all the extra :blast With my mileage this should coincide with the 3 year annual service so it would be the 12000 mile service rather than a 36 month service :thumb2

On my GS they told me the brake fluid was done at the 6k or 12 months service as technically at 12k / 24 months the fluid could well be over 2 years old.
Date of build + sitting about until sold+ time to 600 mile service + 12 month + 12 months.
My dealer also put the date of 6k/12 month service 12 months from 600 mile service, not purchase date.

In the t's and c's it says this:-

I'll need to get confirmation that valve clearances are checked, and that the drive shaft check and lubrication is carried out under the plan. I see that the shaft needs replacing at 36000 miles but I don't think even a 5 year plan would cover this for me as I doubt I'll do 36,000 miles in 5 years.
